It actually depends on the aspect ratio of the movie.

remember that your screen is 16:9 - so movies that are encoded in 16:9 - e.g. Apocalypto will show full screen.

Others like 2.35:1 or 2.40:1 or something else will still have black bars above and below.

To me - no point to zoom as you will loose out image left and right.

Just watch it at the aspect ratio that is meant to be.
*
I don't understand, why they have so many standards in screen sizes?
Can't they just stick it to 16:9 which all new HDTV comes in that size?

err swivel stand meaning we have a controller that can change the angle of the stand horizontally? or use manual hand?

shiny bezel....me noob ....what is a bezel? tongue.gif
*
Manual adjust the direction of the stand.
Bezel is the frame of the plasma.

Yes. It can upscale to 1080p. It comes with an iPod dock too with on screen navigation.

I am not too sure are external jacks to hook up other devices.

Ok. I installed my PT-465 Panny home theatre. Confirm that there's an optical audio port.

Added on April 30, 2008, 9:33 amI got a question on speaker sound.

I tried playing DVD movies and I can listen to all 5 speakers clearly.
But when I switched to Astro programmes, only 2 main speakers got sound. The rest no sound. How come?

What mode did u select when u watch astro..?
like my chaplang Sony set.. i can set to 2 channel,  5.2 or auto.
If on auto it will detect the source n set the output to speakers automatically.
Like on X360 or DVD it will go 5.2 n on astro it will go 2.2.
But if u watch astro, can also go 5.2, all u need to do is select the mode manually so that the amp will simulate 2.0 sound to 5.2 sound

I haven't really explore the home theatre yet. Just installed yesterday night.

Do I have to set anything in astro decoder?

I dunno whether you can called it amp or not. It's actually a DVD upscale player + tuner + ipod dock.

So it looks like exactly a dvd player. I haven't explore adjusting it yet.

Anyway, i can viera link my pv80h with pt-465 player. awesome. When i turn on/off the tv, auto the home theatre also turn on/off.

I'm the pioneer owner of PV80h. I don't have the lagging problem when I playback DVD or HD.
I am also using HT-465 panny home theatre player too.

For best performance watching Astro, use a good brand S-video cable like Monster. It's worth your money.

I am ordering 10 units in bulk purchase at a very affordable price compared to Harvey Norman.
So far left 7 units. The stock arriving this week.

Would like to know if anyone in the forum knows if monster component cable (for dvd) and s-video cable for astro really make a difference?

this is the main difference i see between big retail outlets and smaller outlets.  small outlet with better price, but no freebies e.g. cables
*
I am using monster s-video cable to connect my astro decoder and my panny pv80h. Picture is better than cap ayam s-video for sure.

If you guys are interested to get one, I am selling at a very affordable price. One third of what Harvey Norman is selling.

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/742712

Batch #1 sold out within a week. Batch #2 stock coming in next week. Taking orders now.

Cheers.

Haha.. that makes two of us.

Been rummaging around the Audiophile section and found this discussion.
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/738072
Apparently, for short lengths, it doesn't matter much, but even if it does, there is another thread where someone is selling Monster Cables at much lower prices than those in stores. Don't have the link to the thread, but you should have no problem finding it using the search function. Perhaps one of the gurus here will enlighten us on cables later.

BTW, just to be curious. How much you paid for it? I got mine for 4299, but they threw in a Panasonic digicam too. Not too bad. The salesperson also wanted to give me a carton of Coke or something due to the Beijing 08 promotion, but I insist on something else (dun wanna push my blood sugar level to dire state). So he ended up giving me two big bags of Fab detergent! Lol.. not sure where those are from, but probably free gift from the washing machine section or something.
