Thanks alot for the reply azbro and bsl555 notworthy.gif

Plasma or LCD TV doesn't come with built-in features for diagnostic purposes? Still need to use and editor tools to make colors on a DVD to check?

As i understand for PC LCD monitor, warranty may be covered the LCD has 5 or more dead pixels (depending on brand also). Is it the same with LCD TV and PLASMA TV?

Many Thanks notworthy.gif

Phobia with dead pixels...haha...I understand you...years back I got myself a RM3500 phone thought mail order, and when I received it, a dead pixel and no pixel warranty to cover only one...had to live with it.

Plasma dead pixels are very rare. LCD maybe....I dun wanna name names here, just google around to find out which manufacturer has the most dead pixel complains in the net.

If wanna go blueray...get yourself a FullHD.

But think abt it, now you might say, nope...not going blueray..but then again, in 5 years time? Unless you are the type that changes TV set frequently, better get yourself a FullHD set...but for 32inch...I think the difference is small.

For DVD playback, plasma is better than lcd, am i correct?
(since DVD max only 480p...up to the display to upscale properly.)

I still dun understand why ppl. still buy a 40inch Sony LCD...just compare it to a Panny 42incher....Panny color look more natural, blacks are blacker than an LCD. Reds also are natural looking...Sony wan way to red...and if tone down, looks washed out....or maybe its my eyes.

Hi all, I need advice from the experts here.

1. Thinking of getting the 42" panny py plasma tv. Originally thought I'd plunge for the pv80 (as many have recommended here in this forum), but seeing how the price is steadily dropping I thought why not 'up sikit'. Is it worth it?

2. Is the built-in sound system in the panny py good enuf without needing a home theatre sound system? Just in case I need to budget for it...

3. I'm thinking of having the tv up on a wall to save space. What's the cost of having it done?

4. When you buy the tv, is it normally ex-stock and you can walk away with it or will you have to wait for it to be delivered?

5. How much lower can the panny py price go by 31st august?

Thanks everyone for your help! Will use the tv mainly for astro sports and dvd movies.

Keep the faith.

1. Just get it, after that if the price falls, just ignore the fact that you have looked around for the best deal and thats what you got.

2. 90% of built in speaker by any manufacturer dun do justice for the images. For that, you need a HT.

3.Many have, if you do, get those that can lock using a small solex. But dun loose the key...hehe..like I did smile.gif
The price of installation vary. Some even give 1 year warranty it will not drop. But when you put in on the wall make sure of the position. Most of the time, ppl. install it too high..become neck pain. The correct position is smack right center of your viewing angle when you sink in the sofa.

4.Depends on the location and stock availability. If JB means a least a week. KL of course got stock.

5.Dunno.

Good Luck

No 1 can answer my question above?

Just toggle around with the aspect ratio...i think all LCD and Plasma should have this feature on its remote...not only the kuro, but probably the kuro is oneup with auto detection to fill its screens.

Then why is in panasonic malaysia site they didnt mention anything about THX viewing mode?

You mean to ask if the Pana is certified by THX? Although the PY is suppose to be abt similar to the PZ (THX certified), I dun think the PY have the license.

question - i have old original dvd.. bought when dvd is starting to take off circa 2001-2002

now that i have a hd ready plasma tv... but i haven't got a hdmi dvd player... will the PQ be different if i play the dvd using my normal pioneer dvd player compared to hdmi player?

in other words, do i really need to get a hdmi dvd player... or should i just save money and wait for a blueray player to be more reasonably price
*
I have a normal pioneer dvd player and also a HDMI Philips player, the actual difference are the ports and upscaling software. With a normal DVD, the most you get are the component and Svideo. With a HDMI player, of course you get HDMI and upscaling features.

HDMI are the easiest way to improve your PQ period. Pictures will be sharpers and more detailed.

If you can save money for a blueray player, better still.

hi guy,
I've just bought LG Plasma 42" PG10 Limited Edition ....
1) PQ - How to improve the face PQ, as currently seem like too bright. I've tried with different PQ setting but still can't get PQ just like my previous Sony CRT. I am reffering to Analog TV channel signal. Since I am in JB, the Singapore TV Channel use to be very good on CRT but on this Plasma not very impress.

I'm in JB too...Singapore TCS 5 image quality rocks! But I'm using a Panny.
Just one question, your previous CRT TV a Sony? Some Sony models have reception booster built in which makes it clearer than usual.

I still dun understand why ppl. getting the 32inch....unless they live in a small house/apartment or to put in the bedroom.

Nowadays newer movies some come in Super Wide...even 42 inch seems small.
