opening the tournament to foreigners will definately makes the tournament more competetitve ,higher level and more international coverage but this wont benefit SMM much as i dont think SMM have any interest/business outside of malaysia

by making the tournament open this will discourage local teams to join and demoralize them to play more dota as they would feel like they wont stand a chance to go far or win

i think the purpose of SMM tournament is to attract and encourge more locals to play DOTA and thus benefit SMM from the licence fees

anyway this is just my point of view and opinion i could be wrong

but of course i hope that the tournament would be open to outsiders as this would make the tournament more interesting and the chance of Kingsurf to fight with top teams without any delay and lag
