Although this season is not yet finish but we can see alot of player performance until now...

My All Star BPL lineup will be

----------VDS----------

----------Wes Brown----------Ferdinand----------Vidic----------Evra----------

----------C ronaldo----------Benayoun----------Hleb----------Aaron Lennon----------

----------Torres--------------------Santa Cruz----------

Defense: I chose all man utd player because this season so far they only concede 18 goals that was marvelous result and also they concede less goal when they meet big clubs like Arsenal,Liverpool and chelsea...

Midfield:
1)C ronaldo have superb form this season nothing much to comment about...

2)Benayoun a great midfield player although sometimes he may start from the bench but he is quite stable player and with good passing and assist...

3)Hleb have a very good ball controling skill,he is almost as good as dennis bergkamp who always keep the ball near his feet even when he is dashing,no wonder he is barca next target...

4)Aaron Lennon a player that love to run the winger very much and done alot threat to opponet wing defense, although he is not always on form but defitnetly a potential player...

Striker:
1)Torres first season for liverpool and is already make a huge impact by scoring 21 goals, not only scoring goal but he also adapted liverpool playing style very fast...

2)Santa Cruz although blackburn performance is like up and down but he still manage to score 14 goals for his club.He dosen't seen to have alot of chance but he manage to score most of it,quite a good player and is lucky that blackburn have him...

My opinion....So what's your guys lineup?

i think van der sar is a great keeper, even though ageing. did u see him against arsenal yesterday?

for the defense, i think ManU's excellent records are due to the two centerbacks - vidic and ferdinand. evra is getting better and better, he can attack and defend although his crossing is a bit sucky. but for the right back, i think wes brown is a bad choice. he's not so steady and sometimes unreliable. maybe someone else would be better.

for midfield, ronaldo's form and ability is fake, almost godlike this season. i like hleb, he plays well for arsenal all the time. rarely he has a bad day. i think he's the only arsenal player thats consistent throughout the season. benayoun also seems to be good and i love aaron lenon's dribbling and play. abit like ronaldo.

for the strikers, torres is without doubt the favorite. but i think van persie also is quite good but due to injury and lack of fitness, he doesnt seem to be performing. i believe that in full form, van persie will be one of the best in the league. last time he really was confident, but now.. not so anymore.

this is just my opinion biggrin.gif

It is because i compare the old wes brown and now,so he does improve alot compare to last time smile.gif ,thats why GaryN is now having a hard time to persuade SAF to be his first choice....

Aaron Lennon dribbling and play like Ronaldo shakehead.gif

That guy only has speed but don't have football brains..

Man Utd defence are strong not because all four players are solid..only Vidic the only ROCK in the defence..Without him, Ferdinand and co are useless..

For midfielders, no doubt Cristiano Ronaldo this season is up there but don't forget Gerrard, Downing and Essien who has been solid for their respective teams this season..

Torres and Berbatov gets my vote for the two slots for strikers..

Conclusion

David James

Arbeloa - Carragher - Vidic - Evra

Ronaldo - Gerrard - Essien - Downing

Torres - Berbatov

Subs
1. Van Der Sar
2. Richard Dunne
3. Nicky Butt
4. Fabregas
5. Adebayor

Gary Neville is still not match fit doh.gif

Wes Brown will get relegated to the bench once G.Neville is fit..and he will most likely chiao at the end of the season unless Man Utd willing to pay more than RM50k for a bench player..

I never liked this 'pick your best team' type posts. Most people would only select players from the 'big four'. Personally I think David James deserves a big mention. He has been in superb form this season. Another player I think deserves a mention especially after moving from Tottenham is Jermain Defoe. Unless I'm mistaken, he has scored 8 goals in 7 games since signing for Pompey.

That is a really bold statement. I just have to ask, do you watch any other of the leagues as well as the Premiership? I mean to claim that someone is the 'best in the world' is really going out on a stretch. To each his own, I'm just wondering what the basis of your argument is. I can understand the hype about Ronaldo but this is a little more contentious to put it mildly.

grosso is grossly overrated since the world cup. sweat.gif

same was the case of sietaridis after euro04

on current form NO ONE can match evra in european football at least. especially his consistency. Rating players out of temporary form is not right.

back to the topic

van der sar

sagna
ferdinand
vidic
evra

ronaldo
fabregas
carrick
hleb

torres
berbatov

earlier someone posted bout why people tend to pick those from the big four only. its simple, the reason why these clubs are known as the big four is because they maintain a high level of play throughout the entire season or at least a very very long stretch. look at mancity, most of their players were wonderful at the start of the season. look at their form now

That's the thing.

You people only watch matches from the BIG FOUR, obviously Patrice Evra is the best in the world.

There might be a freaking good wonderkid playing in the Bundesliga and we wouldn't even know.

Cause week in week out we only watch Evra, Cole, Riise and Clichy play. Obviously Evra lah.

Anyway, source for Barca fans giving Zambrotta the stick please.

Yo guys cool down, every people's opinion are different, i won't say my lineup is the world best lineup but that's what the lineup i wanted...

no opinion are 100% accuracy not even those scot that are out there seeking player when window transfer open...
no matter how evra prove is hard for him to called 'best of the world' so is better not using 'best of the world'...But "IF" man utd win CPL then evra maybe the "best of the euro for this season" in his position...

I happy to see different lineup and also try to understand other people's lineup as well....

Okay, okay.

If you MU supporter's definition of WORLD means "Clichy, Evra, Riise and Cole", okay I think Evra is the best in the WORLD.

*
Of the six left backs you mentioned, I watch Zambrotta, Abidal, Clichy and Lahm a lot and I still think that Evra's better player/left back.

Source? Check out the reaction of Barca fans earlier this season whenever Zambrotta touched the ball.
QUOTE(blinky @ Apr 14 2008, 05:59 PM)
Phillipe Lahm
Fabio Grosso
Cristian Chivu
Gianluca Zambrotta
Gael Clichy

Earlier I asked you to name me 5 left backs better than Evra, you mentioned Clichy but in a later post, you state that Evra is better than Clichy if the world consisted of those 4 left backs? Make up your mind and save the sarcasm. I'd concede that I don't watch enough of Grosso and Chivu so I can't judge but from what I have seen, I'd say Evra. So my question to those who say that Evra isn't, who among the players that you have seen happen to be better than Evra?

lol. LYN is a dangerous place nowadays. Evra IN MY OPINION (and im sure im entitled to it) tongue.gif is the best LB in the world AT THE MOMENT. Let evra go on a free transfer and we'll see how many clubs want him. he'll be on any top all star list this season. undoubtedly.

and im sure many of you would agree with me. man utd fan or not.

and for the record go ask Barca fans who they would rather have, Evra or Zambrotta.

my liverpool friend just the other day was having a conversation with me about the CL finals which we hope both our respective teams will play in and he mentioned that he wished liverpool had a LB like evra.

Why didnt he mention Zambrotta, Abidal, Clichy or Lahm? Its either because hes the best in the world AT THE MOMENT or that liverpool only settles for second best. And i am sure its not the latter.

i rest my case.

man utd for life.

Rio's interview with BBC was class. When asked whether he felt bad for Arsenal, he answered something along the lines of "No and they would be the same if they were in our position. We only care about man United". Class from Rio.

And remember, I have first dibs on having Evra's babies, the rest of you get in line. I just love that cranked up, little Energizer bunny. Best left back in the world, by far.

take it from someone actually playing football at the highest level.

My 1st team goes exactly like his ones, except anderson.. this guy has class and he is only 19years old..
i guess his position goes to Fabregas who did brilliantly in the early season...but throughout the season, he did above average..

playing skrtel and vidic together is bizarre
both r slow defenders

actually rio is the heart of united defense
vidic is a great no-nonsense defender who is great on the air
vidic completed rio, and rio completed vidic

Anyway, most of us here only watch matches that involve the big 4. So what's the point?
*
Precisely and couple that with the fact that most of us only watch Premiership games. Even if we do catch a glimpse of the other leagues, it is more often than not when they are showing highlights. It's really subjective, mainly due to the fact the Premiership gets so much coverage and Man Utd have done wonders marketing themselves to the East. Suffice to say, if Man Utd win the Champions League, the first eleven would probably all be the best in the world in the eyes of many. It's funny really. When Liverpool won it and Carra played magnificently, he still wasn't rated amongst the best Premiership defenders. Does anyone actually watch him play or is it a sin to watch your rivals play? I'd admit that Man Utd are probably he best team around at the moment but how many players have we seen leave the club, only to appear average?

Well to each his own. I for one can't rate what I've not seen. The talk here is about what other posters or friends have said about other players. Again, it's all here-say. Sorry, but your 'friend' isn't a reliable source to me.

So when the PFA votes players which all comes from the top 4 , does it means that the players themselves only watch the top 4?

Players like fans don't behave all that differently. If you are a fan of your club and watch all your games, you'll probably be getting a better perspective than the players on the pitch given your view from the camera. Do you reckon the said players watch all the other games, with their hectic training schedules and all that traveling they do?

Like I said, it's my opinion. I'm not seeking the approval of others.

my all star line up for this season would be the Man United squad, with some changes in RB, CM, and FC.

RB - hutton. although he still quite new to EPL, but then he got the speed and defended very well so far.

CM - i need gerard here. he is sooo essential and SAF once remarked that he hate liverpool so much because they got their own Roy Keane in Gerard.

FC- its got to be to torres.

apart from those 3, just rotate those man uniteds'

I agree with you to an extent. The current Man Utd team may beat any Premiership All-Star team we select. I myself have always been an advocate of building successful teams rather than buying the most expensive players in the world. However as this is a 'dream team' thread, I think you have to throw the criteria of players being able to function as a unit out of the window. It's like selecting a fantasy team. It's based on individual performances in the end.

Gary Neville is still not match fit doh.gif

Wes Brown will get relegated to the bench once G.Neville is fit..and he will most likely chiao at the end of the season unless Man Utd willing to pay more than RM50k for a bench player..
*
Don't think they will let him go as I don't see Gary Neville doin another full 38 games next season with his age, fitness & this recurrence of old injuries due the prolong EPL combat wounds acting-up. Wes Brown at right back is the best bet the have at the moment considering his seniority at Man U, his previous centre back experience to the point of a regular England place. Who else to buy other than from the continent.

im surprised nobody mentioned Michael Carrick. I think he is the best CM for man utd this season despite his poor performances early in the season.

and im also surprised Capello didnt choose him for England

He will be there for sure in the future England lineup in WorldCup. He has established himself as the steady first-choice holding midfield in United.

My best Lineup:

GK: VDS

Def: Richards Vidic Terry Evra

Midfield: Nani Carrick Fabregas Arteta Hleb

Striker: Rooney(Lone striker)

My best EPL team line-up for this season will below as below:

QUOTE
GK : VDS (Opt: David James)

RB : Sagna (Opt: K.Toure)
CB : Rio Ferdinand & Nemanja Vidic (Opt: R.Cavarlho, J.Terry, J. Carragher)
LB : Patrice Evra (Opt: G. Clichy)

RM or LM: Cristiano Ronaldo (Opt: Nani)
AM/CM : Cesc Fabregas & Frank Lampard (Opt: S. Gerrard, M. Carrick, Anderson, J.Jenas)
DM/CM: M.Essien & M.Flamini (Opt: J. Mascherano)
LM or RM: Joe Cole (Opt: A.Hleb, Nani, Benayoun)

CF/SS : Fernando Torres(CF) & Wayne Rooney(SS) (Opt: Tevez, S.Cruz, N.Anelka, R.Keane & D.Berbatov)

remarks on the above selection:
GK: Cech not in my selection coz MIA alot. (p/s: no doubt he is among the best)
DF: not much choice between performing RB n LB this season. CB must be the rock partner from MU.

RM & LM: i put "or" coz winger nowadays are interchangeable.
AM: Attacking options for midfield.
DM: Defensive options for midfield.
AM/DM/CM: selection for versatile team formation.

SS: Supporting Striker.
CF: Lone striker.

do remember, i select based on this season's performance as requested by the topic... i know some of u selected non-performing players, although they are good players, but u're contradicting with the thread title..

why BPL only?

below are the BPL players who I'll consider to have them in my FIFA 08 team:

Van der Sar - he's the best GK Man Utd got after Peter Schmeichel.
Reina - poor Dudek

Jamie Carragher - English version of Nesta.
Calvaho - who says Terry's the best defender in Chelsea?

Joe Cole - best BPL winger.
Gerrard - under McLaren, Capello, Houllier, Benitez, he's RB, RM, CM, DM, AM, LM.... he has almost done all kind of positin, with flair.
Mascherano - i never saw the point of having DM until his persence
Fabregas - yeah skipper
Hargreaves - young star of Bayern. but SAF's too old to realize it.

Torres - other than heading, he's an all-round striker
C.Ronaldo - why still a winger when clearly he scores more than he assist every season? ps. he won't dive or misconduct in FIFA game.

Well technically he is still there. Leaving at the end of the season so I guess that qualifies him for team of the season. My mistake.

Yeah, I'd take Mellberg as the RB of choice outside the top four...IMHO, the guy is pretty good in def as well as popping up a few goals and is a threat at setpieces, primarily a CB, but equally adept at RB...

Another alternate selection of mine, the youngsters 11 of the season (those aged 21 and below, and not in Top Four teams):

GK: Joe Hart

RB: Micah Richards
CB: David Wheater
CB: Tom Huddlestone
LB: Andrew Taylor (would have chosen Gareth Bale, but he's out most of the season)

MR: Leon Osman (edges out Aaron Lennon, better consistency)
MC: Michael Johnson
MC: Mark Noble
ML: Ashley Young

Agree,he is a good replacement for GN so far...If man utd who find other player to replace rather then wes brown,it would be waste time, waste money and also have to waste half of the season to adapted the defensive playin style...About GN i think he will play more in next season...

Why BPL only?Is because i less watch la liga and bundesleague because i don't have a astro to watch they match and highlight...I only manage to watch BPL and Serie A...So i am not very familiar with they team and player, all i can know they news is from internet,so i don't want judge some player or team that i don't know much about it...

By the way is true gerrard have play alot of position compare to any other BPL midfield player, but of course not all position are suit him very well, but he still performs very well...

he had a lot of chances through out the season, but not all were converted into goals. Wat i can see is, when arsenal started blipping, their star players like febregas, adebayor they were not on their peak of their form, as they were during the 1st half of the season

agree Huddlestone is most useful in centre mid, but personally, I like a defender who can spread the ball around, and not just hoof it up field anywhere will do kind...he's not too bad in CB isn't he?

would have gone with Steven Taylor, but he's a tad over 21 and has had a stop-start season, just like the rest of his team mates at Newcastle...but I do feel this Taylor can be a very good CB in time...

Are you guys sure about Nani? He's hardly featured for Man Utd games and you think he's the all star lineup for this season. Make no mistake, this thread is about players who consistently performed well thruout the season, not judging a players potential and how well they make a cross.
