From what he said (i think something about already getting responses from the community here?) in Erwin's The Magic Show, and from what the guys in this thread says...

it looks like he's aware of it

would be cool if he really does shows up often at FNMs etc - but I'm sure transport would be a problem, as well as his LUCE responsibilities. Unless someone offer to drive him around... hahahhaha

@ Nationals: A huge melting pot of emotions for me. Major project at work, won't be free to write tournament report and top 8 coverage until done with the project.

@ Zac Hill: I offered to help via email and he emailed me back saying he'll be around in about two weeks time. Too bad he'll miss the beginning of the 1.5k Arena.

@ CCEGames 1.5k Arena: You. Guys. Rock.

I'm sad that I have to go back Melaka during some weekends and with other commitments and interests I won't be able to attend every matchday. sad.gif

One question: Will only the every first non-FNM 8-man tourney I join be counted? Or if I join 10 8-mans, all 10 will be counted?

So, from my understanding...

If I joined 2 drafts on matchday 1(draft), and 3 drafts on matchday 2 (draft), my wins and draws from all 5 tourneys' count into the score?

On the same note, will there be more than one Standard tourney on Sundays? or will there be just only two chances a weekend to earn points for the standard portion of the arena?

What do you guys think of the new PT Schedule and format!?

Highlights from http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=mtgcom/daily/bd346!

Number of Pro Tours remains the same! 3 PT and a Worlds! (No surprise, stingy bastards)

ALL Pro Tours will be SPLIT FORMAT! Half constructed, half limited! shocking.gif

Top 8s will be sometimes constructed, sometimes limited!

The PTs are:

Kyoto, Japan
February 27-March 1, 2009
Formats: Standard, Booster Draft
Top 8: Standard
QT Format: Sealed Deck
QT Dates: October 4 - December 28, 2008

Honolulu, USA
June 5-7, 2009
Formats: Block Constructed, Booster Draft
Top 8: Booster Draft
QT Format: Extended
QT Dates: January 3 - April 19, 2009

Austin, USA
October 16-18, 2009
Formats: Extended, Booster Draft
Top 8: Extended
QT Format: Standard
QT Dates: May 2 - September 6, 2009

Worlds
Rome, Italy
November 19-22, 2009
Formats: Standard, Booster Draft, Extended
Top 8: Standard

Looks like Wizards is continuing the trend of cost-cutting.

Kyoto, Honolulu and Rome is cool, but Austin...?

There are no shops that sells MTG in Melaka AFAIK at the moment.

I study in MMU Melaka and I supply MTG materials and organize events for Melaka. Feel free to contact me and ask me anything I can help you with.

I got a foil 7th Edition Thorn Elemental... Hehehe.

I don't mind no Sensei's top - it'll be good for the metagame IMO. smile.gif

Yeah, I agree! It ain't broken. But Top + Counterbalance is rather annoying.

But I think the banning is done for Tournament Organizer's sake, and maybe to a certain extent, spectators too. I think R&D must have found out that with dredge out of the picture post-rotation, Top-Balance based decks must twisting the rest of the metagame too much for their liking, hence the ban, and hence what I wrote above about how I think it could be good for extended. smile.gif

Also from the same source above:

Planeswalker Loyalty

Loyalty is a characteristic only planeswalkers have. Each planeswalker has a loyalty number printed in the lower right corner of the card. This isn't a power or toughness -- it's a new value.

A planeswalker comes into play with a number of loyalty counters on it equal to its loyalty number. While a planeswalker is in play, its loyalty is equal to the number of loyalty counters on it, and its printed loyalty number is ignored.

Damage dealt to a planeswalker results in that many loyalty counters being removed from it; see "Dealing Damage to Planeswalkers" below.

Playing an ability of a planeswalker causes it to gain or lose loyalty; see "Planeswalker Abilities" below. As a planeswalker loses loyalty, that many loyalty counters are removed from it. As a planeswalker gains loyalty, that many additional counters are put onto it.

If a planeswalker's loyalty is 0, it's put into its owner's graveyard as a state-based effect.

While a planeswalker card isn't in play, its loyalty is equal to the number printed in its lower right corner.

Personally, if I'm buying theme decks I'm not wanting to jump into competitive magic anytime soon with the deck, so getting a booster and a foil rare while you take out a bunch of cards that I'd probably take out anyways is a good deal to me... hahaha. But that's just me. wink.gif

But i really agree with the reasoning behind phasing out Theme decks with the new intro pack... about how new players tend to pick up theme decks that think that's it. Having a booster and giving them options on how magic is customizable is a very good introduction to the game IMHO.

@ herrkolisch - ditto on what zaaba said. Serious competitive play is also so much more hotter than it used to be half a decade ago with CCEgames offering cash leagues and plenty of high level competition to look forward to with GPT Taipei and PTQ Kyoto coming up really soon.
