Ok, Let say TM got 100Gbps to US backbone.

they will rent / let  10Gbps to Maxis, 10Gbps to Celcom, 10Gbps to PenangFon and so on..

The remaining will be data centre and lastly streamyx user.

Y Jaring is faster eventhough they are using TM backbone as well. Bcoz did not overselling their US bandwidth which rent from TM.
Well, Any extra bandwidth will give to streamyx user. so we got down time, msn can not sign in, Youtube slow and etc.
(correct me if wrong)
*
Wrong , your concept is wrong. TM has a huge International link. Try comparing TM's Lease Line to your Streamyx. You'll feel the difference. The problem with residential package is that TM just applies QoS rules aka fair play , since we have been allocated some resources , and in order to manage it , TM just has to throttle connection , etc to ensure everyone gets to enjoy the broadband. For lease line , the experience is totally different - its you and the Internet and there is no middle man. No funny QoS rules , that speed belongs to you and there is no way TM can throttle.

screamyx gave me 406kb/s download and 194kb/s upload. zzz . anyway w1max is wireless so its not good for gaming? because of what? will get dc frequently? but compare to screamyx and w1max , will u choose sceamyx to play games or w1max..?  wink.gif
*
Whats wrong with 406kbps and 194kbps. You're on the 512Kbps package and it seems fine to me. 75% of the advertised speed , so whats the big fuzz ?

Beware about the P1 IP address is fix IP address regarding the technical department.
It's not rechangeable during you relog your modem.
So, people can trace your foot step...

Added on August 22, 2008, 12:06 am

lol the fengsui master is the technician that come to your house to install the modem for you. brows.gif
P1 said that it is recomended that you hired their fengsui master to your house to ensure your reception of $$$. tongue.gif
So that you get high speed while using their service. biggrin.gif
The service price is RM80.00, applycable while register the pakages. tongue.gif

You sure its Fixed IP. I know JARING Wireless provides users with dynamic IP , but if you keep on the modem everyday , you'll notice the IP doesn't change unless its off for a really long time. I think its the same with P1 as well. It doesn't matter if you are using Dynamic or Static IP , people can still trace you.

That is up to 3.6Mbps. In reality , its impossible to get more then 3Mbps unless there is like nobody using it. At last P1 is offering something more realistic. Get the difference between 3G Broadband and WiMax !

Thats the limitation of technology. When they say up to 3.6Mbps , meaning that it can go anywhere from 0 to 3.6Mbps whereas P1 advertises it as 1.2Mbps and 2.4Mbps , meaning that you should get at least 70% of the advertised speed. (same goes for streamyx as well)

Website might take few seconds to response in this case a local site will take 128ms to response. Surely you might notice it , but once its loaded you'll see things will load fast. Speed and latency aren't inter-related , as there are many factors that would influences latency

If you notice , the port is still blocked. Not recommended for those who plan to host games such as DOTA , as its not possible to do it !

is it like another Jaring Wirelss bb service all over again?
*
JARING Wireless is way better as they give you an external IP , in other words you could host your own games , port forward for p2p application. Its not a problem. But P1 gives you a public IP address and then blocks it ! - Sure today you can torrent as there aren't much people but what if the user base starts to pick up
QUOTE(Sprit @ Aug 24 2008, 03:06 PM)
You mean users are under one big NAT or firewall? That'll suck cause what if my chosen application doesn't work? Call P1 to forward a port?
*
Its like a NAT. That is why they say its just plug and play as its been pre-configured. I'm not sure if users are given the WebUI Interface to disable NAT and if possible to dial manually

they give you hell of a slow speed after reaching the limit.

Not half , its 64Kbps - Imagine from 24Mbps to 64kbps

Nobody knows , unless someone is willing to post their P1 Modem MAC Address , so we can determine the make of the modem and its chipset - which allows us to explore more and find out what they have imposed in the modem (QoS rules , firewall rules)

It can't be P1 for sure , cause they were promoting their WiMax back then , couple of years. I am guessing it must be Redtone

I wonder why they don't want to give the license to say DiGi or some other key players. Like out of the 4 companies , I dare to say that P1 and uh is the best. This what happens when you give WiMax license spectrum to a VOIP company

Anyone using P1 Wimax with PlayStation 3? What NAT type did you get? Coz I'm getting NAT type 3 which is not acceptable for me. tongue.gif

Its of course NAT Type 3. Not recommended for "hard core" gamers such as you. P1's modem pretty much blocks any port that it thinks isn't worth it and going to take bandwidth. This is why I am not recommending P1 to gamers , including nairud who wanted to try P1. Its a no-go.

It will be Type 3 , no matter what you do. This is why , streamyx is the only choice that gamers have (Despite the fact that it sucks)

I stay in USJ4, not far from SS14. The 1st day when I used P1, the download speed was an amazing 1800K+.
It was consistently 1700K and above for the next 2 weeks. I was really impressed and satisfied. After the 15 days trail, things changed. Connections to P1 became irregular. Numerous calls to careline did not improve anything.
The download speed dips from 1700K to 1400K then to 1100K before the bombshell of 20G download cap.
The download speed I have now is 400K thanks to the fair usage policy.
I know streamyx is bad but P1 isn't that good either.
If you want to subscribe to P1 thats your choice.
*
Guess , it seems that another Maxis broadband in the making. Providing you good speeds during trial and then slowly then to do funny things and once you have reached your cap , they'll cap you to a lower speed. Seems that Streamyx is still the King of all the lousy broadband services here. P1 doesn't seem to impress me at all. Heck , I dare to say even JARING Wireless is way better then P1's lame policies

Okay guys

I am officially on WiMax. Will be testing and posting reviews from time to time

Now for the speed test

(Keep in mind , I am using some of the bandwidth. My family members are using the Internet. So the results might be biased a bit)

Can't do speed test - It takes forever to download (Streamyx)
Beats the hell out of my Streamyx. I'll post pictures later. Oh yeah , kudos to Miss Naomi for being very friendly and uh thumbs up to P1

Edit : Gonna disconnect and try Streamyx

Edit : I've posted my part one review over here. So if you guys want to see how it performs and such , I recommend you to do so

Before i performed test i make sure no other application was using the bandwidth o_O;
Prasys can you please check torrent downloads whether you are being throttled. Thanks  nod.gif

I'll do that. Its in my next part. How it performs in certain sites such as YouTube , etc

I noticed , the cap seems to be nice right now. I guess its mainly because of their cap. Anyway I'll have to wait and see how it performs

I'll be writing more review. For gaming , gamers might not be happy. I'll have have to conduct more tests !

Yah ! I am being throttled

Not bad , youtube takes a longer time to buffer and its around 400kbps-ish - but one word - the upload is pathetic after being throttled - 64kbps and at most it can go is like 96kbps

Well , I just hope that they don't turn into another Maxis Broadband. So far their services seem to slowly declining (as in the speed , throughput). I guess ever since the firmware was upgraded , I did notice disconnections , frequent "lag spike". Lets just hope that they'll improvise the service !

wanna check wit u guys..
is using p1 gives problem when ure using those webcalls ?? from msn to msn video calls?
does this wimax tech affects the quality or smoothness ?
*
Video calls do drop a lot , I believe its because of the high latency and its not able to pump the same speed (with minor margin for a long time). Alternatively it may have been caused by NAT !

Hi there,

If im playing Ragnarok Online 24/7 non stop, will my bandwidth hit over 20GB?
*
Nope , it just only transmits data in small amount. So you don't worry about it

Even if you get throttled , it would be your speed basically !
