Now i'm as the Year 2 Diploma student from TARC. My course is Information System Engineering (ISE).

Now i'm blur to choose whether go for advance diploma at TARC or go for degree at UTAR.

Is it the advance diploma with the Campbell's degree / Top - Up program at UK better than UTARs' degree?

Please be kind & give me some advice! thumbup.gif

Is it the UTAR will shift to Perak for all the courses? Which is the Petaling Jaya UTAR is don't have any intake by this May 08?

I am from Foundation studies May 2007 intake. My degree is BIS starting on May 2008 in UTAR. I am in Stream C so ALL of my course mates, no matter is from BIS, ISE, CS, etc. will all be in UTAR Kampar. Except Actuarial Science will be held in Kampar on 2009. So they have to stay here in PJ for 1 year then only shift to Kampar for the next 2 years in degree. But I confirm that all IT courses will be held in Kampar except Computer Networking, Acturial Science and etc. ISE will be in Kampar, so there won't be any May intake of ISE in PJ. That's all I know. Hope it helps?

If the employer choose the 3 month top up degree rather the UTAR 1, then I'll say he is plain stupid and dumb.

My advice is, if you got the money then go for the topup degree, but don't expect it give you advantage in job hunting(at least for smart employer). Because at the same time, you can travel around europe. But if you dont have the money, go for UTAR degree.

oh really? have u checked the modules in Ktar and Utar for the same course? ..which one covers more modules?
for me as an employer of course i wan a grad that has more knowledge even though the employer will send u for training for the company.
<removed-no need to insult/attack other members> no offense here but the truth in malaysia is that they give higher marks for those who have went out overseas as u have more experience and see the world more ...

I'm also plan like that because it can be travel arround... if got lucks... can work at there to earn back the tution fees... thumbup.gif

Is it that Campbell degree and the UK top up degree are certified by the JPA or LAN in Malaysia for my course? UTAR also will be the same?

Atcually i quite scare for the expenses at Setapak there. The rent also high.... Now totally blur....

With 3 month top up degree, does it worth it, do you get enough experience, does traveling around europe(see the world more) related to the jobs. Go ask yourself. I'm not talking about the modules cover in advanced diploma.

Campbell at tarc is the external paper exam only, but it will convert your advance diploma to the degree. Why not good?

Utar is good by providing you a degree. But the passing level for the UTAR very high, many student find their death in UTAR as well.

And kampar might not as good as ppl said. Firstly, the living cost is as high as KL. What the heck, how come a rural area can so expensive.

Kampar UTAR lack of quality lecturer as well. fee high, but you cant get what u expected.

Think twice before you choose. My advice, ask parent. so that, if one day u regret. u still can blame your parents

for me the 3 months is quite worth it. not many ppl can afford a few years study overseas. it does relate to the job as different country as different kind of working system and education system. go ask urself, if every country has the same working system then Indonesia is same as USA d lo?

Why need to wait ? You graduating this May izzit? Herm, IIANM you can appeal to study first, then show them all your result and transcipt later. Try to enquire this from UTAR Faculty Office.

Oh I see. 6 months is a hard wait. I understand. Maybe you can opt for other uni/college, or maybe you can work for 6 months before you continue your study again lor.

The "big move" from PJ/Sungai Long/Setapak to Kampar takes time. Even me also have to help out my lecturer to get stuff sorted and send it to Kampar Campus.

trust me la no difference one la. Ktar advance diploma more hectic and no time to lepak but Utar more time to lepak.

but when come outto work no difference one la. plus campbell degree here is consider u only graduate diploma cause american degree not recognized.

but to me really got no difference one. i from Utar i work my pay 3500 my friend work he from Ktar also 3500.
so no difference one la.

only difference is what is ur impression to your employers. and you have fun during colleage days

i put it simple la.

KTAR
very hectic, longer class hours, shorter time, no time to lepak and relax, If you fail mid term wont affect your finals that much cause attendance and other crap like labs and stuff are counted in the 20%.
no Uni experience lo. No degree(campbell dont count as a degree JMU is a friggin shoplot and sheffield hallam is a disgrace) and even if u go overseas the total will come out more expensive than go UTAR
Utar
Longer time, Got one friggin 3 month holiday(FES),more lepak, more coursework, u ponteng 4 times u straight barred, if u fail mid term ur finals also die. labs are a seperate subject so reports are very important.Uni experience lo

so issit easier to decide now.
but the bottom line is when u graduate there is no difference lo.
but what i think UTAR graduation sucks cause in wisma MCA
cant really take picture clearly and ppl scattered all over

wait 6 months for what?

Uni experience? nothing much la. got name as uni student lo. hahaha not consider collage student anymore.

tell you la. make up ur mind to where u wanna go then understand the why. dun keep thinking cause where ever u go Ktar or Utar still the same for ISE.
if accounting got big difference la.

ISE is in pj campus if i not mistaken. the food there is very expensive lo and so is the accomodation and very jammed all the time.but in future if u graduate still in PJ find work is very easy ma. in wangsa maju here not much job can find one. very limited. and area for jobs are far far away but food is cheap and accomodation is cheap lo.

dont worry la where ever you go there are stll pro's and con's

just think of what you really want lo

the adv dip n ext paper is a killer for some ppl,
it literally means u have to study all the parts in a subject, and to sit for the exams (both) in the same day....
so tarc has my vote,
only thing bout UTAR is they have pulled most goo lecturer from tarc to there....
