Well, recently I bought my iPhone and it was definitely one of the best decision I've ever made in my life, its just so beautiful, sexy, slim and gorgeous drool.gif However, as they say, with great "power" comes geat responsibility, I myself wasn't aware of the powerful curse that the iPhone brought along together with its beauty. Wherever and whenever I went, ranging from shopping malls to university, the iPhone attracts hordes of nerds, Tech Freaks, Geekphiles, Apple fanboys/wannabe's and chicks alike.

These people are not just staring at me using the iPhone but some are even brave enough to approach me just to have a closer look at it. The curse has also turned my friends, relatives and even my own girlfriend!!! into iZombies that always asked me for my permission to play with the phone. Its very hard to say NO to them since they might think that I've become selfish or arrogant after obtaining this new "power".

In order not to attract unnecessary attention, I was force to keep the phone in my pocket all the time, fearing this mindless creatures might drop or spoil my beloved precious. Its really hard trying not to make calls or sms especially during in the cafe or class fearing my life could be in danger.

Ok end of story tongue.gif This thread purpose is to discuss how do you handle the pressure or heat after obtaining the iPhone. Or how do you say no to friends who wants to fiddle with your precious.

My preciouuuuussssss (currently using my iPhone to post while hiding deep in my university library)

It is better to stay low profile in public areas to have a sense of security. If it was me, I would not dare to sms while walking in KL downtown.
This the price you pay for owning a PRECIOUS in Malaysia.

Come on. Back to the reason why you brought the IPhone.
Isn't it for "the show"? I am sorry, but i read a lot about IPhone and said that the "show off" is the best part.
What do you have in IPhone that doesn't exist in other gadget? The first answer is the brand name.. the "show off" itself. Probably something else also in second...

Buy such a glittering expensive device and then camouflage it. It is just wasting lah...

Oh.. one good idea.. Camouflage it.. hide it with skin or casing or whatever when you are in daily environment. When going executive places, then show off.. but then those executives will regards us as teenager....
Ohh.. another idea.. show off when you are in teenagers environment....like malls... .well.. see if you have any target for doing this ...

Anyway.. good for you to have the Phone.

Great story. The iPhone do turn heads but i think, slowly, it is losing it's exclusiveness. I mean, you could easily get an iPhone these days. No big deal. You don't need a special invitation to be able to get one in Malaysia. Money, is the only hindrance. Even so, it is not that pricey, eh? In my class alone, there are 3 iPhone users including myself. I feel pretty... ordinary.

Well i gotten my iPhone not for the sake of showing off, I just love the function, design and the level of agronomics in it. Well I hope it dies off soon enough cause I am really having a hard time saying no to people who wanna fondle my baby =_=||| oh yeah, about the chicks part, its usually girls (coursemates) whom don't usually talk to me but approach me just to have a closer look at the phone. The worst part would be those zombies playing my phone till the battery is half gone doh.gif zzz

Err no, I did not buy the iPhone to show off. In fact, why would anyone buy something for the main purpose of showing off? What is in iPhone that is not in other gadget? Hmm, the coolest thing about the iPhone is its very very intuitive user interface, something that you can't really feel when you're looking at pictures/reading reviews until you've actually tried using it.

Other key features: the best web browser around (WM Internet Explorer doesn't even come close), multitouch, lots of cool 3rd party apps that works great with multitouch (Tap Tap Revolution, NES emulator etc), the iPod interface, plus, coming in June, the App Store!! I can go on but I think it's enough haha..

As for the "curse", haha, I actually tend to not use it in front of my friends for fear of being branded a "show-off". All that attention is really unnecessary.. tongue.gif

Hahahaha ... thats why i use capsule black color so people would think its another PDA phone. Don't like to show off or anything. Later if got the attention from 'inappropriate' people lagi susah. But my office mate like to play games on it especially the weSpot and pool. They play until the battery gone half.

Anyone that got the phone just to "show off" is definitely an attention seeker. I fell in love with the phone coz I feel no other phone capable of doing what iPhone can do. The technology, the design and the functionality is more appealing as a fresh invention rather that a show off gadget.

maybe u need to stop reading bout that, and start playing one by yourself. not forcing though, but once u use it u'll love it (ermmm...depends la...). no need other people to justify any product, experience one by yourself and then u have your very right to say whether it's a great phone or it's just a wow phone for show off.

iPhone is not only about the specs on the paper. before this most of people compare the specs based on the feature list, like when u r purchasing a computer. but for iPhone, it's a different world apart! the OS itself is very different from other phones in market.

oww...if u still wanna look it from the side of it's technical spec, iPhone is driven by a powerful Samsung ARM11 processor 620MHz or 667 MHz (i dunno which one), which is one of the most powerful ARM processor available.

mmm, the "show off" part is another bonus of possessing an iPhone, but that doesn't really matters now coz it's not that exclusive as before.

btw, depends on how u r using the phone in our daily life la. different people, different opinion rite? as for me, iPhone fits my usage pattern and yeah it works for me.

do give loves to your gf as well..coz she's been there before u hv your iPhone..if u dont want your gf install drop & copy so u can share with others laugh.gif sweat.gif joking ah bro..jgn marah nanti kena jual whistling.gif

iPhone has the coolest gui interface ever! & it's fool-proof as well.

Back then when I had SE P990, my friends played around with it until the phone settings got scrambled real bad.

Unlike the iPhone which doesn't have much settings to mess with....

Depends on the usage. I normally charge every 2-3 days If I did not use it for Wifi at all... If I uninstall Dock apps (I am still running on 1.1.2), then it can last up to 4 days. If I used wifi intensivelly, normally it will only last 1.7 days. sweat.gif

True, i is a curse, i just bought my iphone for 3 weeks, the heat is still there, whenever my officemate came to my workstation or even just passing by, they will try to reach and touch my precious with their unclean hand.

Some more, 1 of them just bought a sony ericson i-don't-know-which-model on last CNY, once he knew i obtained this gorgeous phone, up front he said that he jealous, there for whenever my iphone ringing, he will stare @ me like want to eat lol.

I thought its only me feel the curse, its good to know there are someone outside there sharing the same burden.

Tomorrow i will wrap my iphone using cozip, so those uncleaned hand will not spoil my precioussss....

It would probably be offset by the power consumption of the 3G chip. You could argue that it won't if you don't use 3G, but in that case why get the 3G iPhone? biggrin.gif

To 'show-off' probably, like some iPhone owner out there. No pun intended. Ehehehehehe. sweat.gif

------------------------

We can't speculate the battery life on a device thats not exist yet. We'll just have to wait and see AFTER its launch. Then we can comment kaw-kaw punya.

Haha I'm just curious, where's the pun in that? hmm.gif

Im curious too. Dont see any PUN pun(B.Malaysia) in that sentence. A PUN is something like this:-

Captain Aubrey: "Do you see those two weevils, Doctor?...Which would you choose?"
Dr. Maturin: "Neither. There's not a scrap of difference between them. They're the same species of Curculio."
Captain Aubrey: "If you had to choose. If you were forced to make a choice. If there were no other option."
Dr. Maturin: "Well, then, if you're going to push me. I would choose the right-hand weevil. It has significant advantage in both length and breadth."
Captain Aubrey: "There, I have you!...Do you not know that in the service one must always choose the lesser of two weevils?"

The last line uses a pun on the stock phrase "the lesser of two evils".

To forgive, divine.

No worries, all in the name of PUN. (Pun definitely well-intended) wink.gif

The price to pay for having something so gorgeous smile.gif

Actually iPhone not really that expensive if you buy it at US. It's cheaper than some high end SE and NOKIA which doesnt worth that price.

I've been an iPhone user for exactly 15 days now - and still I find there's alot of things I need to learn about it. We don't have Internet at our desks at work (only in the common Internet Kiosks in the lobby) and therefore, if you really calculate, I don't have much time to do research about the phone.

Ever since getting the phone, I've spent 2 - 3 hours every night after work (I get off work at 12am, reach home about 1am) to download album art for the MP3s. I finally finished all the stuff that I need for the songs that I have. Keep in mind I don't have my whole MP3 collection on my iPhone yet. Looks like there's more work to do when I decide to have my full collection synced.

My thoughts on the iPhone after using it for slightly over 2 weeks.

The iPhone should come with a disclaimer:

*CAUTION: Will cause severe pain due to excessive jaw dropping, will cause excessive swearing, will make people see visions of God*

Some of the comments I got from colleagues who've seen the phone:

shocking.gif "It's so cool" drool.gif

shocking.gif "It's awesome" drool.gif

shocking.gif "Holy $hit! It's awesome" drool.gif

And the occasional

shocking.gif "Oh My God!" drool.gif (This coming from a guy who's a self proclaimed "gadget lover". I might have even influenced him to actually get one for himself)
