QUOTE(atrocitines @ Apr 12 2008, 05:04 PM) form 6 is actually one of the many possible malaysian education courses that is up to international standard. but hell some of the teachers are not qualified to teach and it all depends on your initiative. i would say discipline and time management skills are important when you are in form 6. just dont slack off too much. I concur.I never really regretted spending two years in Form 6(even though many ppl,esp my friends that have chosen to enrol in private colleges would think that studying Form6 is a waste of time, but I strongly disagree)The only thing I regretted is picking Science stream over Art stream.I did fairly well in my SPM,scored As for both my Additional Maths and Physics thus I thought it was a sound choice to keep staying in Science stream(esp when I was determined to be an engineer.Later I studied Phyics, not Biology)even though I realised deep down that I would do so much better if I were to switch to Art stream. As expected,I didn't perform well throughout that one and half year. I was so fed up with my Chemistry teacher who has only a few years of teaching experience. She was horrible as she couldn't answer her own questions, she got as confused as us all the time and she didn't sound convincing and confident with her own teaching methods. How were I going to listen attentively during her lessons?I thought I could study by my own without depending on anyone or seeking a tuition teacher but I was proven wrong many times yet I didn't care.Luckily at the end, about one month before my STPM I managed to get an experienced Chemistry teacher who is also a marker for STPM Chemistry paper to give me tuition. And it paid off.I did surprisingly well in my STPM My Physics and PA depended solely on my tuition teacher because I was dissappointed with my school teachers as well.My Physics and PA teachers were experienced but they curi tulang ALL THE TIME.Sometimes we only got to see them like twice in a week. U will be very busy when u are in Form 6 esp when there are a lot kokurikulum activities that u have to participle.Just make sure that u listen in class. If the teachers are lousy, get tuition as fast as possible.Don't wait till the last minute like I did hehehe but always make sure that u don't attend tuition class with your friends. That will distract u from listening in class. One of two friends will be enough as u guys camn help each other out with sharing notes and group discussing after tuition.Don't ever attend tuition class with more than 10 students because the tuition teacher will be too busy to pay attention to u and your problems.Don't even skip school and stay at home surfing the net like what I did !!! As for subjects like Add Maths, spend more time to understand the concepts and do as many exercises as u can. When u can't understand sth, quickly get help from ur friends or teachers and don't wait till tomorrow because most likely u will forget about it or don't care whether u get the solutions.Get a little notebook where u only drop down all the LITTLE important notes.Revise them all the time. And don't even try to burn mid night oils.I had been spending many nights awake before studying till 4/5 am but that didn't help as u are probably too physically and mentally drained at that time to be able to concentrate and think clearly. And last thing,do revision every night when u come home no matter how tired u are.And before your teachers teach a new chapter, try to learn it at home the night before as that u can have better understanding in class the next morning. I really hope it helps.I am feeling really generous this afternoon lol This post has been edited by lovelyduckling: May 1 2008, 02:50 PM |

@ysh_kobe:U remind me of myself and my friends !!!
The problem with me is that I failed to concentrate in class just because the weather was too hot(I was sleepy all the time)and I hated my teachers VERY much.As a result I skipped school a lot(at least two days in a week,no action was taken against me)Like u my old school doesn't offer form 6 classes thus we had to tansfer to another school. There were less than 50 Science students that year.Imagine being in a learning environment with no competitiveless, lambat laun I was getting lazy and overconfident.I knew I was getting in trouble yet I kept telling myself that everything would turn out okay after I failed my Chemistry for the n-th times.I started to realise that I was running out of time in May07,only then I started work my butt of to do notes. At that time i should have been doing all the lower six chapters' revisions.I lost my faith and I nearly gave up.I kept telling myself that "u can't give up.This is the only and long-waited chance for u to score a scolarship to study overseas.U can't afford to screw it up.U have to keep studying no matter how tired u are.If not u are going to regret it once the result is released because u don't try your best. The guilt is going to drive u insane."I had to keep telling myself that everyday until I finished my Physics paper. The best thing I have ever done was getting a Chemistry tuition teacher though. So the lesson is don't wait till last minute!!! the time passes tooo fast. Before u realise the STPM is just around the corner. Now I can't wait to attend uni.I told myself that this time i will try super hard. Not gonna let internet ruin my second chance. Added on May 4, 2008, 2:42 am QUOTE(Octavios @ May 4 2008, 02:27 AM) To be honest I skipped a lot of the kokurikulum activities because I was too exhausted after school.I only scored 5.3 while most of my friends scored more than 7 marks each of them. *shrugs* We are supposed to join like three(badan beruniform, kelab, sukan)It almost took up three days in a week while I still needed to take tuition at night !!!This post has been edited by lovelyduckling: May 4 2008, 02:42 AM |

QUOTE(arsenwagon @ May 4 2008, 02:51 AM) What can I do?My STPM result wasn't excellent at all, loads of ppl do better than me and they deserve the scolarships more than I do.I have learnt my lesson.I can always postpone my plan to study overseas. The right and only I could do now is equip myself with knowledge so that I am fully prepared to compete with ppl globallyQUOTE(Octavios @ May 4 2008, 02:51 AM) You doing STPM for science?I heard its of the hardest, glad you made it.Anyway,if you don't mind, can you give me your email address? QUOTE(ysh_kobe @ May 4 2008, 03:03 AM) Same to me too.......... I would not let the same mistake fail me twice.................... I'll strive to be the brightest among all stars..............
