is this game is the series supposed in graw2?? coz if i remember at 1 stage in graw2 we need to pass 1 bridge which is there is 4 tank on top of it guard the way then capt mitchell callin airstrike which is..in this trailer the pilot response to capt mitchell to air bomb those tank.. |

Ace Combat gameplay is good, but the dialog from the pilots and the radio suck ass! Just so annoying, I had to turn it off after a few play throughs.
Since this is a Tom Clancy game, I think it won't have those stupid dialogs! Should be awesome. |

You would have your hands wrapped around that joystick if u were to be adjusting the throttle frequently , which I guess U would in this kind of game , it isn't a commercial plane simulator , where the thrust lever just stays there

i would recommend the one that was for ace combat .
it was in fact a saitek x45 i believe. i would love to have a stick to play this game too but i feel the saitek av8r is just not suitable. i'll just stick to my faithful airbus sidestick . heheh . |

The Ace Edge is based on the X45, but minus a lot of the extra buttons. Only bad thing about it is the rudder controls, which is a rocker button mounted on the throttle, and the use of a single spring on the stick.

PC sticks doesn't work unfortunately. Doesn't really matter anyway. Console sims are not that hardcore till u need that level of precision yet.....

Love the detailed map and graphics in the demo. Almost crashed into Jesus in Rio.
However, I need to sort out the objectives in order of priority. Was shooting at everything and anything in sight last nite without any clear direction of which is primary and secondary objectives. too much banter over the radio, couldnt pay attention while avoiding hostile missles. |

Not bad... not bad at all... works excellent with the Ace Edge stick. The dogfight cam with the assistance off takes some getting used to, but is virtually useless for anything that requires precise targeting (guns, semi-active AA missiles, bombs, hidden targets, etc...)
The ERS is nice for absolute beginners, but again is of not much use. Toggling between assistance on and off is easier with a stick. On the Ace Edge the controls mimics AC6 scheme. Added on February 13, 2009, 10:55 amI don't think we can get the Preorder planes here. In any case they're not that interesting (2 are attack/bombers, 1 is a fighter). Yea the assistance off mode is totally sux.
I'm still getting used to the controls since the buttons for the cannon/missiles & change weapon/map are the opposite of AC6's. Effect of playing too much AC6 |

for me with the assistance is OFF, at first it was quite difficult to fly it. but after a while it is much easier in this mode when dogfight with other planes and dodging missile. only when aiming for ground target need to have the assistance ON, otherwise sure will kiss the ground.
with the assistance OFF, it feels much more cinematic. more enjoyable. |

ok just got off the demo...the assistance thing is so odd...the gameplay is smooth yea (maybe abit too smooth?) it almost feels more arcade-y than ac6, like err, what's that one called? afterburner or sumthing? and locking on is quite annoying as well with the whole cross screen targeting...not to mention target boxes are...yellow?
does anyone think that ac6 might still be better after all?  |

hmm yea...voice commands...i think it's faster to press the button for flares than to shout "decoy! decoy!!" you'd think some will scream "flares" instead out of panic anyways

HAWX supports voice command just like Endwar. But if you want to use it for flares I think by the time it recognizes the command the missile already in your tailpipe.
Finished the campaign last night. Overall the missions are on the short side, and not as complicated as AC6. Most of the missions tend to be straightforward, no AC style super dramatic plot twists, nor there are any missions where you have to fly inside a tunnel or a barrel of a super-gigantic-railgun. Between AC6 and HAWX, the flight model feels closer to real. Yes, it is virtually impossible to depart or stall in HAWX but you do bleed off energy, sometimes at an alarming rate if you turn too fast. |

Unfortunately MP limited to TDM only. 4v4. No objective based MP here.
But IMO it's more balanced than AC6. You can't spam more than 2 missiles at at a time on a target and the Multi-Target missile can't be salvoed on the same target. The COD4-style streak reward system adds a bit to the challenge. |

LoL the word realistic and HAWX doesn't really gel well together. That said, IMO it's a lot closer than Ace Combat.
If this were on the PC, HAWX would be similar to Novalogic's series of flightsims. They're not as hardcore like Falcon 4.0, but they're no Afterburner either. On paper, sure the A-10 is at a severe disadvantage compared to say an F/A-18. But flown right, it can still give the F/A-18 a run for its money. |

I was referring to Novalogic's F-22 and the likes. Not as hardcore (sustained high-G turns without bleeding speed much?) but fun nonetheless.The point I was trying to pass is sometimes it's not just abt the plane or the skills of the pilot flying it. It's also important to know what a particular aircraft can an cannot do and use it to your advantage. Case in point, a P-47 vs a Spitfire or the F-4 vs the Mig-17. The Spitfire and the Mig-17 excels in low-speed turning fight, but the P-47 and the F-4 can still come out on top if the pilot know what he/she is doing. Done right, super-realistic combat flight sims can be fun, but these days it's a very niche market and not many developer are willing to do it. Anyone still remember all the radar modes and the steps to lock a target in Falcon 4.0? Or trying to shoot a Maverick in an A-10 in LOMAC? These days the market tends to gyrate more towards pick-up-and-play sims. Strike Fighters and it's derivatives for example. Simplified avionics with focus more on flight dynamics. Personally I prefer the old school. WWII flight sims. Used to subscribe to Aces High MMO last time. No avionics to worry about, no missiles to lock on and dodge, underpowered aircraft, vicious spin to worry about if you mess up.
