Just a very noob question .. since Iphone is not sold in malaysia.. How the warranty system works ?

LOl i have been told by a few friends who saying there r stores that sell "iphone" 1.3k for8G !
and i just LOL at them! and when i go check it out. it's ipod touch!!!
iphone 8G in US r $399, with the lowest currency now 3.2! convert urself and figure it out! and with the tax system! how on earth they can sell 1.3k 8G iphone ... totally a LOL!

haha...heard bout this before, only to finally notice that it's actually an iPod Touch!
iPod Touch and iPhone does share lots of similarity on its design and the interface itself, so some people can mistakenly seen iPod Touch as iPhone.
no need to take my word, just go to that store and find your "iPhone"
no warranty. the warranty is only activated if u subscribed the iPhone with the telco, as the coverage is partially provided by both telco and Apple. so the only assurance that u have is on your purchase of iPhone at the apple store (if it's DOA, mmm...not really can be called as a waranty actually).
and nope, even if the iPhone is officially in malaysia, the US iPhones that we r using now will not being covered by warranty. it's like buying an AP phone.

This is rather sad for iPhone users like us as we do not have any official support or aftersale services. Well I guess thats the "price" we should pay for being part of the revolution I wonder what are the iPhone users here gonna do when their phones goes kapoot.

Thats like cost price lol. Possible if the seller do not have the intention to profit from it.

I was like LOL...Stuck at apple logo and it's not responding to the cable...cannot restore it.I sent it to the mac and ask them to repair or whatsoever.Yesterday i gave them a ring and that fella told me ..you punya i touch sudah No more hope..the apple malaysia will send you a new one Agak kaya

Touch wood la, really touch wood, but in my history of buying gadgets (any type, phones, laptops etc), I have never had to use my warranty. Normally they just work till I decide to change. I think that's the case with most people as well. So I am not too worried about the warranty part. TOUCH WOOD!!

It will be much more cooler after you jailbreaking it.Ya,third party application and other stuff.It's boring without the third party tho

I heard that you can get ur Iphone fixed by apple Malaysia.. but you have to pay for it ..

That will cost you longer than seeking service with some unofficial service center. And they would not give you a replacement to use in the mean time like US.

the real question is, will the labor or hardware be cheaper or free than a 3rd party?

Yup I agree with every part there, but still sometimes unforeseen accidents may happen ya know (TOUCH WOOD)

This reminds me of the story when i was working at one of the gadget shops. We were having a roadshow in MidV when an Uncle + his family came over and ask me some questions about the iPod touch i was holding. After a quick demonstration and explanation, he asked the ultimate question...



There goes my sales and time....but it did entertain me for a while LOL!

no, Apple Malaysia will not fix your iPhone you can try whatever you want, your worst case scenario is that the service center will take it, and post it back to USA, cos there are no parts for iPhone here!

i jus saw an ad in a shop in KK (Kota Kinabalu, Sabah) , selling iphone WITH APPLE's ONE YEAR WARRANTY!! is this possible? the seller said the lowest price for 8GB is rm2300...

Added on June 1, 2008, 6:34 pmi believe the warranty offer by the shop themself & not from apple m'sia. they gambling when selling it at higher price where they took full responsibility for the particular phone.

if there is no prob with the phone in 1 year, means they gain much coz usually new phone 8gb only cost around 1.9k & below. if there is problem, then they might tried to repair by themself else they would try to send it back to manufacturer(usa) to claim warranty.

3G iPhone been rumor to be announce on next week 9th June Apple WWDC, and its been quite awhile around the internet

site like macrumors and gizmodo has been revealing on some facts regarding this issue, so i not suprise if local newspaper would report that new iPhone going to release next week

I have been working in a bank's call center for a couple of months and recently this bank offered customers to purchase through IPP methods an Ipod Touch using the bank's credit card.

Sometimes I need to answer credit card calls and I must say at least 75% of the calls I got for credit cards got some b'tard asking me is that an Iphone...why so cheap? How can got installment pymt plan?

Told them to go online and check for themselves, and they will be like "Why so damn '7' noob wan, this is Iphone lah!!!You think I dunno ah?! I see the photo I know liao lah!!!! I am an Iphone user you know, so you dont come and teach me and tell me that this is not Iphone!!!!! You yourself got Iphone or not?! Dont have then dont act you got!!!"
