I'm english educated, so I can tell you why. Simply put it english songs at karaoke are crap, due to the poor el-cheapo videos used for the songs. Chinese pop songs on the other hand just seem made for karaoke, they're more much fun and engaging. Because most of use can barely read chinese, we tend to not frequent karaoke places.
