ooo.. u mean that... but the thing is, not all eng ed are open-minded and not all chinese ed are conservative... it's just a general asumption...but how do u define open minded and conservative? i think it's all very individual

Everyone is unique, yes, but people can be grouped together by their common elements and behaviours. You can apply this to chinese/english educated people. Culture and language plays a huge role in a person's upbringing and in shaping the way they think. For instance, gender roles/social etiquette/rules/etc. are very strict and rigid in chinese culture. They're taught to respect and listen to authority, often to the point of complete submission. This is probably why you don't see chinese ed people asking many questions during lectures and such, they think doing so would be challenging authority.

I don't see chinese educated people as being more shy, more introverted, etc. I just see that they think differently, and personally, I dislike the chinese educated mentality. I know quite a few exceptions, but generally, its something I cannot stand.

HOW many topics like these have we had? Sheesh.

oh and I read that someone said they wouldn't date a guy if they see no future ... but not talking about marriage. What the heck are you talking about? A future in a relationship = marriage.

Now you know the kind of vagueness and contradictions guys have to put up with laugh.gif

If you're talking about marriage, i'm with you on this one.

I generally dislike it, whether its for marriage, relationships, sex, business, I find the chinese educated mentality horrid. Only time when I find it tolerable, is when it comes to family, but even then, there are aspects that clash.

Frankly, for chinese peeps, i just really hate when the elder really disregard the younger ones and they always believe they are the right one in almost every aspects of their life. Very very the bias.

Not to mention, they want their child to always get straight As regardless of the situation the child face at schools. Its pity sometimes to see those child.

See what I mean by rigid social hierarchy? tongue.gif

QUOTE(spunkberry @ Jul 10 2008, 06:32 PM)
Again, I speak from my experience dating a Chinese ed guy. The main reason why I made him an ex was because he was trying to control me. There were other things that clashed but that was mainly it. I don't like the Chinese ed mentality either, and I don't tolerate it at all when it comes to relationships.

Once again, gender roles and social hierarchy laugh.gif
