anyone using maxis wireless power broadband package near old klang road, kl? it claim the connection can go up to 3.6 Mbps. wats the average bandwidth? i am thinking of switching to maxis from streamyx (a real pain in the @ss).

between wired and wireless broadband, which is better?
[attachmentid=600499]

this is the so call broadband service provided by streamyx. vmad.gif
*

nah, better stick with streamy-x .. or else you'll need to call their support every night and they come out with "oh, it is normal sir, your area coverage is crowded. better try again after 12"

pft.

I just used maxis bb for 4 days.

DL = 369kbps
UL =  69kbps

Is this good or bad? icon_question.gif
*

my first week with maxis .. ahh, it's like a honeymoon. the only difference is, i go nowhere.

sometime i even had 800kbps kind of connection. but now, well, most of people's marriages doesn't really work anyway.

All of their packages are contractless , its just that you'll have to pay RM 200 handling fees when you wish to terminate it. Thats Maxis' definition of contractless

putting hate aside, does anyone knows if that promotion : postpaid value 50 + broadband is still on?

Just read this t.o.s

http://maxis.com.my/personal/broadband/termncon.asp

5.3  Excessive Usage

5.3.1  Each customer’s total usage per month shall NOT exceed 3GB of data volume transmitted (total upload and download usage). This is to ensure that no individual hogs the bandwidth at all times.
5.3.2  If a customer wishes to use more than the volume permitted, a written request should be made to Maxis.
5.3.3  Maxis reserves the right to reject the said application or charge for any additional data volume transmitted from what is already allocated.

damn, just a couple of months ago i saw limit : 20GB.

^ why would there be a difference in speed? i thought they're using same comm tower. maybe your place just got upgraded, hence explain that jump in speed.

if you could re-test using maxis BB in your area and do current comparison, it would be great. i might migrate oso drool.gif

yeah, i heard it too.. most people said maxis 3g (mobile internet) got better performance compare to maxis broadband users...  hmm.gif
*

i can't confirm this as i only able to get 2-5KBps download speed using my maxis postpaid + K800i. at exact same spot as my ZTE modem which managed to achieve 50-60KBps

stimix, how much u paid every month for the internet2go?

also, how much is the starting cost to own one? including deposit, modem etc.
*

Maxis postpaid + 3G phone. call them and ask for unlimited internet package (or internet2go, whichever)

that's all.

is the 3gb/ month cap for real? i just got the broadband yesterday and already using up .5GB. this doesnt even make sense and i wanna return it before my 7 day free trial period ends. i use bolehvpn to download torrents but not sure if that can avoid the cap. advice?
*

highest i reached was 12GB (no screenshot as i'm using other laptop last time) .. i can assure you that 3GB bandwidth cap was a crap/myth. but i do recall in their T&C, it's stated that capping start after 20GB.

never reach 20GB tho because of their pathetic speed.
