Has anyone try playing COD4 @ our local server by using 384Kbps basic package?
*
It does not matter if you are on 3.6mbps package or 384Kbps basic package. The latency is still going to be bad

some online games got problem...ping time to high, ZTE moderm cannot port forward .
i do play online CS and CZ...the closer server i can get ping time is 125ms while streamxy can get 45ms

and surfing net so hard ...morning until evening is ok but at night time...s*ck
u can appy from maxis and test use in 7 days time...if no ok the send back to maxis
*
WRONG , it has nothing to do with the modem. Its maxis that is blocking the ports , if you use the USB Modem , you'll notice that even if you turn off your firewall , the ports are still blocked !

QUOTE(mivecv6 @ Aug 5 2008, 02:12 PM)
yeah, its on 3G only. i've no problems with Pidgin tho. but still, i want my MSN!!!
*
They do block MSN. It is because MSN Messenger (Windows Live Messenger) uses other ports to establish a direct connection with the server. It prefers to establish a direct connection but then Maxis have configured their system such a way that it will block such connections. They claim that its meant to protect their network and other cock and bull story that I've heard of. To overcome this , one might have to use a Proxy (again which is retarded) or to use Pidgin and select the option - Connect via HTTP. But then connection via HTTP isn't stable at all.

QUOTE(hazzy @ Aug 5 2008, 02:26 PM)
i think theres is no problem with ur maxis connection, im on my MSN right now.
i think MSN is the one that have problems, try uninstall and download again a fresh copy and install the new one.

but still, no P2P!!!! arghhh!!!

do u think we should refund our money?
*
You are lucky if you can get into MSN. Hopefully you don't get kicked out of MSN. That is one of the reasons why I said goodbye to Maxis

QUOTE(digswell @ Aug 5 2008, 03:40 PM)
MSN protocol usually uses ports    6891-6900  check ur firewall or other  antivirus internet securty firewall got  block this port
*
Again , if Maxis blocks those port there is no use of saying 'Check your firewall/antivirus'. Trust me , its maxis' fault , i've proved it with WireShark data that packets get dropped and MSN can't establish a direct connection. It glued their mouth and at the sametime I managed to avoid paying RM 200 handling fees.

One word - if you are within the 7 days cooling period. Just unsubscribe otherwise you'll be screaming here just like the rest !.

Use VPN Service but I bet once you have reached your 20GB Limit. they will throttle you back to 256Kbps. So imagine if you're on the Power Package (From 3.6Mbps to 256Kbps) till your next billing cycle starts !

so what is the best u can suggest for me bro?
im confused with all this ISP stuff sad.gif

Well you only have two , I would say three options

1) Subscribe to VPN Service - Look under service board , there are couple of VPN Services. They can certainly bypass Maxis' restrictions on P2P but keep in mind that there is a limit - 20GB download/upload limit. Once you have reached that , Maxis will manage your bandwidth !

2) Subscribe to torrentflux service - Again look under services noticeboard. This allows you to grab your torrents via HTTP. Pretty much the torrents gets stored in the server and you download the files either via FTP or HTTP from the server. This way nobody can throttle you as its using HTTP traffic. I've used it before and that is how I managed to get most of my files

3) Use Vuze or BitComet. Lifetimeseeder option sometimes do work for certain torrent and you can able to torrent. Keep in mind that maxis blocks most of the trackers too. This can be easily bypassed by using a proxy to connect to the tracker. The speed might be slow but it will certainly allow you to torent. when I say slow , I mean that the speeds will be 0.1 Kilobytes/sec up to 5 Kilobytes/sec

New Maxis Wireless Broadband user here, on Power Package (3.6Mbps).

Just wondering,...

Why can't I play Gunz at all while on this broadband? So far I'm really satisfied with its results but the disappointing part is that I'm unable to play some games... sad.gif

You can play your online games from 1 in the morning till 6 in the morning. This is when they unblock all the ports and lift up restrictions , so you can enjoy to play games and run p2p applications.

thank you prasys! thumbup.gif ur the best!  notworthy.gif

20gb will enough for me laugh.gif
eyh i tot Maxis only allowed us to use until 3GB?

anyway, where is this service noticeboard located again? sorry for this question, but im getting all confused  shakehead.gif
VPN Service erh?
*
http://forum.lowyat.net/ServicesNoticeboard

There are tons of VPN/Torrent services provided by the forumers over there. its for you to choose. Maxis' T&C clearly states 3GB , but their staffs say that its 20GB.

come lets unsubsribe then. opt for celcom or u-mobile? how do i unsubscribe?

do i have to call the hotline or go direct to maxis?
*
Within the 7 days cooling period. Bring the whole ZTE MF600 box + the plastic bag that did they give it you (Otherwise they'll charge you). Just walk in to Maxis Centre and say you want to say goodbye to your service. Its just that simple

At least Celcom is better then Maxis , despite the 5GB cap , they don't block p2p , gaming ports and other funny stuff. Its just that the IP Address is being shared among celcom users thats all. As for u-mobile , i've no idea on how their system works

bye bye maxis tmw. hello celcom. regarding the celcom plan, if i take the one with modem, after the contract i get to keep it right?
*
Yep , you own the modem. Its not a rental modem , you can get to keep the modem. Think of it of an investment. Suppose if you aren't happy with Celcom and who knows by then DiGi might offer 3G/3.5G Service also. All you have to do is swap SIMs and it will work. I believe they do give you an unlocked version of the modem !

You may want to wait for P1 W1Max (WiMax). Alternatively you can try izzi. There is an izzi agent , you may want to contact him and arrange a free trial to test out the connection

Maxshit damn "leet" man. I can't wait till this Sunday when everyone who subscribed during PC fair returns the modem back to Maxis. Hopefully my connection will be restored by then.

It will be restored back. I suffered the same thing as yours last time.

Its written in the manual , the SIM Card is IMEI Locked , meaning that it will only work with the device that they gave you. It will not work on any other devices

Kudos Maxis. I'm pretty impressed with their Customer Support Team. They managed to resolve my issue in less then 24 hours and they waived my termination fee and July's month fee. I've to say so far Maxis is best in terms of customer support. They still have a long way to go in improving their broadband service and making it reliable for users !

the contract is 2 years... and u check at maxsh1t website for see how many month u being use... or juz call tol free number...
*
Wrong. the contract period is 12 months. 12 months is a year. Hence the contact period is meant for a year only. After that you can terminate without paying RM 200 fees !

The Big size modem isn't portable. It depends on you , if you're just using it to surf the Internet , then i would say then RM 68 package would do the trick. But then if you just want to have the extra vroom , then go ahead and pay extra 30 ringgit for the 3.6Mbps package if you want faster speeds on downloading and other things

I've said , they still haven't fixed issues with Windows Live Messenger. Try to use Hotpsot Shield , that does the trick if you want to use Windows Live Messenger. If i were you , I would go with Celcom rather then Maxis. At least celcom users do not complain saying that they can't connect to MSN , etc

hi, izzit true that even my maxis bb is under umts signal doesnt mean i have the hspda coverage?

You gotta test it first to determine if you're within the coverage zone. The modem hopes between UMTS/HSDPA , so don't worry
