Otterbox Defender for the iPhone
user posted image[/IMG]
Let's be honest here, reviewing mobile device cases can sometimes be extremely boring and a lot less fun than surfing the web using the iPhone Safari browser. Where's the fun in talking about a piece of leather or plastic after all?
But specialty cases like the Otterbox Defender are in a category all their own. Discovering how this ingenious company based in Forth Collins, CO, managed to developed a product that can really protect the iPhone and still make it attractive, not bulky at all and most important, fun to try, was really exciting. Creating this case was an extremely tough challenge, and Otterbox have exceeded my expectations by far.

iPhone Case Review: Prima Lateral Leather Case
user posted image[/IMG]
Usability: When attached to your belt, the case stays there and it does its job perfectly. Nothing special here. But the problem with this type of case is in fact the iPhone itself. The iPhone is a slippery device, and when you have to take it out of the case while it's attached to your belt, you can hardly do it without touching the screen. If you haven't locked the screen, you could end-up answering a call before the iPhone is even out of the case.
Construction quality: This is an excellent quality product and it will last for years to come. Stitching is very well made and leather quality is also very good. The magnetic clip works also perfectly. It's large enough so you don't even have to look at the case to secure the iPhone
Design: From a design perspective, the case is very attractive. Well, I say attractive, but that depends on the style you're looking for. The case gives its owner an executive and conservative look.  Is this a perfect match for you? That's your call.
Conclusion: This is an excellent quality product, but I'm not sure this is the best fit for the iPhone. The Bookstyle and Open face cases also available from Prima Cases are probably more appropriate for the iPhone.
New iPhone Cases Released by Tekkon
user posted image[/IMG]

Tekkon, a company which produces accessories for mobile devices like the iPod, has unveiled a new line of cases for the iPhone. Four cases are part of this new line up and they are priced from between usd $30 and usd$33.
The most interesting of these new Tekkon cases is a hard case with soft touch. Tekkon says this particular case "provides the durability of rubber or silicone without the bulk." It wraps around the mobile and also offers a flip up, transparent protective cover for the touchscreen.
The other three new Tekkon cases are made of premium leather. They include a leather sleeve with bi-directional swivel clip, wallet case with removable strap and credit card pocket and a flip case with removable clip and credit card pocket. The last two cases also have non-magnetic closures, which Tekkon says it did to prevent magnetic interference with the iPhone.
DLO Puts Out iPhone Case for Active People
user posted image[/IMG]

The DLO Action Jacket for iPhone, priced at around USD$30, is a neoprene case designed for more active iPhone owners. It includes an integrated belt clip and removable armband which is adjustable. With these accessories, says DLO, you'll have easier access to your protected iPhone.
Also part of the DLO Action Jacket is a play-through screen coating. This clear window is designed to let you get at the iPhone's touchscreen controls while at the same time keeping the display shielded from scratches and moisture. This case comes in black

H20 Audio announces water resistant iPhone case
user posted image[/IMG]

On the heels of our announcement yesterday about GizMac's interesting new iPhone case, we got word today of another one which will keep your phone from getting dusted if you go down while skiing. Meet the new H20 Audio iFR Sports Combo, priced at around USD $40.
The H20 Audio iFR Sports Combo, according to H20 Audio, is a new product design. The case is weather and water resistant, sporting durable polycarbonate construction to help protect your iPhone from impact and shock. The lid flips, swivels and can be stowed so you can get full access to all of the phone's controls.
Shipping with the iFR Sports Combo is a sports armband with a dual D-ring design which H20 Audio says fits all arm sizes under or over bulky clothing. It also offers cord management so you don't hang yourself on your earbuds when you take a spill.

GizMac Titan Offers iPhone Good Protection
user posted image[/IMG]
GizMac Accessories recently introduced what may yet be one of the best Apple iPhone cases to date. The Titan Clear for iPhone offers you protection and easy video viewing all for a tidy cost of around USD$35.
The GizMac Titan Clear for iPhone encases your mobile in a clear polycarbonate shell to both protect it and also let the iPhone show off its looks. A thin film screen protector is added to keep the phone's screen safe as well. As for easy video viewing, the Titan includes retractable horizontal and vertical kickstands which can be used to adjust angles of the case for better viewing.
Also included with the Titan Clear is a rotating belt clip holster which not only holds "the case face out, but also face inward for added protection of the iPhone screen." The holster is designed style wise to compliment the case. The entire package provides open access areas as well for controls, camera and headphones.

Use an iPhone case as a Flip Stand
user posted image[/IMG]
Many iPhones cases have been released so far, but very few are really newsworthy. Nevertheless, the ToughCase introduced by CoverCase looks interesting. The leather case wrap your iPhone and iPod into an ultra-portable hard leather case with flip design that fits in your pocket.
The new cases offers a hard shell combined with soft Napa suede lining, leather coat and screen protector. ToughCase's built-in "Flipp" slot lets you watch video or conference call that acts like stand. I don't know about you, but I watch videos with the iPhone on the side...
The case has a retail price of USD$24.99 and it's available at the CoverCase Store and Apple's retail stores.

i-volution from Vaja
user posted image[/IMG]
The case offers the same construction quality and options as the TOP SP has. The iPhone can easily be slipped in and out of the case and the iPhone look just great in it.
On the negative side, the edges of the case are bulkier than the Top SP and that creates a discomfort when typing on the iPhone screen. If you just use the phone, iPod or even the browser, the edges won't really disturb you that much. But when you have to type on the keyboard, and especially if you're using both hands, you might feel a discomfort when trying to use the keyboard letters near the edges.
On the other hand, the screen is always accessible, and if you frequently have to use the iPhone keyboard, this is plus compared with the "i-volution TOP SP".
Keep in mind that this case does not offer any type of screen protection to the iPhone.

Pros:
Excellent protection
All controls are available at all time
Construction quality is excellent
Very solid
Screen is accessible at all time

Cons:
The edges create a discomfort when typing on the iPhone
No screen protection
The "back to menu" button is more difficult to operate because it is covered by the case.

Check Vaja's website for more details
"i-volution Top SP" From Vaja
user posted image[/IMG]
But besides the good iPhone protectiveness provided by the case, the product really adds to the value and style of the iPhone. Most of the cases on the market are a compromise between protection and style. In my opinion, the i-volution Top SP brings both to the iPhone.
Pros:
Excellent protection
Excellent construction quality
Camera, mute button and volume control are available at all time
Helps holding the "slippery" iPhone when typing on the keyboard
The case makes no obstruction the the screen and sensors
Adds very little thickness to the iPhone

Cons:
When the top is flipped, you can't sync or charge the iPhone
You can't remove the cover
Available online only
Expensive

From what I read from reviews, incase is much more glossier comparing to capsule. Have to take extra of the scratches and avoiding it from slipping out of your hands. sweat.gif

If you google it, you'll find that there are a substantial amount of incase slider users that are complaining of the case scratching the iphone. Because it's made of rubber, when there's dust caught between the chrome bezel and the case, it will cause scratches over time..

I ordered a cozip from amazon and one of the reviewers there who had the cozip case for 2 months said that it would cause scratches on the chrome bezel too. Dunno how true is it, all the other reviews are "just started using" reviews. Damn, ordered already summore.

Wicked_ken, you've been using the cozip case for a while right? How is it? Do you keep removing it to put on the dock or do you just use the normal ipod USB cable?

okay, my bad, it was the earlier incase cases that were guilty, although the incase slider does have rubber guardrails on the inside, so yeah..

Oh, almost forgotten about incase. Was thinking a lot about getting SwitchEasy. Now that you guys reminded me, what is the price difference between the two? I've only seen incase on the net though. Switcheasy looks good in real and the package was good too, not to mention the price smile.gif

I've tried many different cases n the best n still my favorite is the Cozip. It doesnt change the look n feel of the iPhone which is what makes it so special. Even with the Cozip on, the iPhone looks like it's naked n just as beautiful, just the way Apple's designers intended it to be. As for scratching, I've found that ALL cases will scratch the phone if ur lazy. Coz when dirt n dust gets between the phone n case, it will start rubbing n scratching. U haf to remove the case every now n then to clean out the dirt. The texture n feel of the Cozip is unbeatable as it's a rubberised kinda paint. It feels soft to the touch n doesnt slip in the hand. Best thing is the hole on the back that shows off the lovely shiny bling bling Apple logo which we are all so proud of. Those of u who havent tried a Cozip hafta feel it in ur hands to really understand just how good it is. It's feel n texture is really 1 of a kind.

My 2nd choice is the Switcheasy Capsule as it protects the iPhone better but the iPhone doesnt look as nice anymore. It just looks like any other PDA phone. The spring tab mechanism that holds the case together on the back also scratches the phone when u slide it on. Lucky for me, I've got a vinyl skin on the back of my phone. My Capsule has scratched my chrome ring on the front pretty badly as I was lazy n didnt clean out the dust n dirt regularly. By the time I realised, it was all scratched already. The screen protectors provided by Switcheasy is jsut a total joke. It's USELESS! Dont even bother to use it. The thing about the Capsule is that it comes with it's own Dock adapter n earphone jack which allows us to use any earphones we like rather than being stuck to the pretty lame earphones that come with the phone. That earphone n dock adapter is a huge value bonus. thumbup.gif

Next choice for me wud be the Agent18 cases as they look really nice. I especially like the transparent version. Mebe I will order that soon to try it out.

In my opinion if you guys want to go for Switcheasy type of case, Incase Slider Case is the best option out there. But of course, if you're going for all protection only, condom does best. It can be reused after drop!
