QUOTE(ante5k @ Apr 15 2008, 03:26 PM) by not hiking , we are bankrupting an essential business, which in turns when goes bankrupt, also cause KLSE to crash thus resulting a bailout by the government using tax payers money, which in turns is used to subsidize those with higher electricity usage (i.e. having a chiller at house, 20 air cons running) meaning more money goes into pocket of those using more electricity, not the average people. paradox.. Well they can then change the way tariffs are calculated. If people are really poor, they won't use air-con anyway. At the moment, TNB charges by consumption right, so after a certain amount of usage they charge even more for usage. By increasing the initial amount use to a lower tariff and increasing the amount charged after a certain amount used. It will let low usage homes to save more and charge extra for homes using more. And I do agree TNB needs to have some sort of re-structuring in their ranks. All those senior clerks earning a RM4-5k doing nothing should be dropped, but their employees are unionised so that would be a problem.

Warren Buffet don't understand the tech business, that's the only reason he stayed out of it. He believes he should understand what he is getting himself into, because if he gets into trouble for it, at least he can explain his mistakes and understand it to prevent it from happening again.
He doesn't even use the PC last time when it became a hit, he just use it to play a card game Bridge with friends online.

QUOTE(naz_b_85 @ Apr 17 2008, 12:27 PM) This is typical malaysian mentality..everyone rallies and we start being afraid.. haha for now, the KLSE is more or less 'de-coupled' from the world due to internal un-certainties. So no use if DJIA fly 200+ points, KLSE not interested. If Anwar says tomorrow he form government, then maybe KLSE will take notice.

QUOTE(cherroy @ Apr 17 2008, 03:53 PM) Just read a news said Kulim has increased the stake of QSR to 60%. So may be next time Kulim shareholder will get KFC voucher (QSR owns KFC), may be Pana likes KFC a lot, that's why bought Kulim shares. Haha, just joking. Market too boring I suppose. As Genting shareholders do get some vouchers mah. Regarding Genting, I just reaqd OSK new research paper that targets Genting at RM10 quoting the goodness of a Malaysian Disneyland will help Genting with new tourist arrivals. Really hard to believe what they trying to sell.

QUOTE(cherroy @ Apr 17 2008, 04:18 PM) HK is a world well known tourism destination and with dense population in HK and China mainland. Disney HK already struggle to even make a breakeven point. Want to set up another Disneyland in IDR, Johor? <-- not many people (foreigners) even know where is Johor? IDR? Don't say Johor, most people don't even know where is Malaysia! QUOTE(okk @ Apr 18 2008, 11:38 AM) China drop is not a bubble to me...bubble is when there is no fundamental supporting and normally when bubble burst, it doesn't take a long time to drop like what happens to China now, for example, see Dot Com bubble, how fast the stock price evaporates.....back to fundamental, Chia is still projecting GDP around 9.5% this year, hey, that's about double of Malaysia, and this slowdown is necessary to prevent overheating, and hence I believe China is still on the right track... China market was at 5500 points in January 2008 and now April already 3200. Thats more than 40% drop already. For most people correction is like 10% drop.

QUOTE(aretla @ Apr 21 2008, 10:41 AM) small knife cut big tree is only true if we hold it until the mature date and it's still in money rite? Not necessary, as when the mothershare in the US rise, the CW will rise as well. Due to their leverage, CW tends to jump in bigger percentage compared to the mother share. Of course only if the CW are in the money, because if not not many are interested in out of money warrants which have little chance of going back to 'in the money' status.
