I only have the DS......but so far my opinion is this:

U want unique gameplay, lots (and i mean LOTS) of games, go for NDS. (Cheaper too biggrin.gif)

U want sexy n sleek media player, high quality graphics, some nice games, go for PSP.

Personally, if i got more money, i'll go for PSP. (plus have FFVII Crisis Core....thats a plus biggrin.gif)

Of course if you're rich, get both la tongue.gif

just my 2 cents. whistling.gif

i also have both. Choosing which handheld really depends on what types of games u enjoy playing. Because NDS games are more simple and uses the touch screen. SO more unique games.

The PSP games are very similar to PS2 types of games. So PSP will have FF7, Metal gear, winning Eleven, Burnout etc. PSP graphics is much better then NDS. PSP can play MP3, Video, wifi, etc.

So both are great handhelds...it only depends on what games u like.

PSP , because DS games mostly are low production games , akin to flash games . The only worth mentioning is castlevania and EBA . Seriously , even in Castlevania , some of the sprites like lousy .gif files .

Mind you I owned DS before , and yet to play a PSP .

I have both, but I bought the DS first due to its innovative gameplay. I bought the PSP mainly because it has God Of War, and now Crisis Core and the upcoming Kingdom Hearts...or else, I wouldn't bother happy.gif

My verdict:
PSP: out of the box media and wifi capability, games with somewhat close to PS2 graphics n gameplay, great design but harder to fit in ur pocket happy.gif
Buy if u like: FFVII, GOW, KH, Racing games and Sport games with eye candy.

DS: Innovative gameplay, graphics at par with PS1, N64 but some looks better (because displayed in a small screen).
Buy if u like: Mario, Old school gaming, new type of gameplay, Phoenix Wright, RPG (remake of FF series), simulation etc and oh yeah...now got Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword.

I still play both happy.gif and loving it!! Oh yeah...a DS is easier to get chick to get interested in gaming. happy.gif

If u don't know how to decide, open up Gamespot, IGN or famitsu, then go to DS and PSP's editor's choice. Look at how many in that list got more games that u like...that's what I do b4. happy.gif

Ipod touch got lots of great games too with jailbreak. Can surf the net and check email. Listen music, videos. Choose ipod touch! laugh.gif laugh.gif

Back to main topic. This is an unfair question to ask people.

Same goes to people asking whether PS3 or Xbox360 is better

Fanboys aside, the best person to ask which console to choose is none other than yourself.

Besides, If you chose the wrong console (touch wood), can you really blame the people who gave you their opinions here? It is their opinion, not yours.

Read reviews, watch video reviews if you can. From there, you can get a good view of what you really want.

psp.ign.com
ds.ign.com

www.gametrailers.com (For video reviews)

Hope this helps.

i have both and currently my ndsl is gathering dust tongue.gif

imho the ndsl games are rather kiddy and as mentioned above seems rather low quality (sorry ndsl fans biggrin.gif - just my opinion). though if you like games like brain academy, cooking mama hehe etc the ndsl execute them better. also the ndsl have lots of short games that are better suited for on the go. psp games tend to be more immense

psp is a much better all rounder and the cost is also quite close. psp home brew also very active with lots of stuff available and frequent firmware updates keeps on adding new features (like skype, internet radio, rss, remote play etc). it is also a powerful media player (although you have to encode for movies) and the mp3 playback sound quality is excellent (better than my 2gen nano).

I bought a nds phat and then a psp phat and then a nds lite and planning to get a psp slim soon. I like alot of good games on both systems but i had a few probs with my psp and nds so i'll bring u the low down.

The differences between both is that :

psp is an all-in-one packages with internet, mp3, skype, radio, wifi, photos etc. Can also play UMD movies (sold separately). also the games are long lasting especially for rpg games. the bad is that whether slim or phat its bulking to fit in pocket and has long load times for some psp games.

nds has backwards compatibility with game boy advance games as well as support for voice chat for wifi-enabled games via the built-in microphone (ex: pokemon diamond, jump ultimate stars, advance wars: days of ruins, diary girl etc.) as well as a integrated chat program called pictochat similar to mirc but lan settings (need another nds to chat with) and best of all, you can attract girls into gaming. the bad is that you have to buy accessories for ur nds to have mp3, video, homebrew etc. and most games then to be short

But then again i agree with msn83235502 & pmsoo. the games r wat matter the most and not the features so my best suggestion to u is buy both!!! drool.gif u won't have to regret any game u buy on either system. trust me. i know i haven't. biggrin.gif

if he can buy both, i dun think he bothered asking which to buy happy.gif

I have both too happy.gif

If u need all the extra media features, buy the psp. But having said that, i use my ndsl more as a media centre when I'm out and about coz it fits nicely in my pocket and dun really nead a pouch for protection...alaa R4 and M3 not that pricey since most shops here included it in their package...and oh yeah...hassle free because u don't need to upgrade ur firmware.

ya true happy.gif There's more RPG on the NDS. Zelda, Revenant Wings, FF remakes and many more from square enix.

oh ya one more thing is a plus for NDS...Battery Life!! Which is very crucial if you're out on the move a lot.

Short review regarding PSP game
Good
1. Patapon - Good rhythm game, quite innovative, not a hard game
2. God of War : Chain of Olympus - PS2 clone, too short, too easy, best graphic
3. Crisis Core : Final Fantasy 7 - Innovative gameplay, nice CG, mid length game
4. Ridge Racer - Best racer game in PSP, graphic very good
5. Silent Hill Origin - Short game, good graphic

Bad
1. Final Fantasy 1/2 - Old stuff from NES/Wonderswan, super bored
2. Castlevania Chronicles - Old stuff from MSX/PS1
3. Burnout : Dominator - Old stuff from PS2, bad graphic cannot see the car coming from front
4. Flatout - Bad graphic, slow speed
5. Nagase (18SX) - Low cost AV game, wasting time
6. Final Fantasy Tactic - Old stuff from PS1
7. Orochi Musou - Old stuff from PS2
8. Need For Speed Street Racer - Old Stuff from PS2, bad graphic, slow framerate

From the game that i have played so far, I saw a lot of remake game on PSP, super bored and nothing innovative on the game.

PSP is a MP3 player (most of the HP have the feature)
PSP is a movie player (Only on certain format, RMVB not supported)
PSP is a skype (even the accessories is not ready to be sold)
PSP is a messanger (you can sms faster than this)
PSP is a TV-console (you cannot play full screen, i guess 2x to 3x bigger)

* no offence to PSP supporter, just sound out my opinion.

I'll be getting the NDSL first in May during my sem break, then only get the PSP maybe next year new year LoL sweat.gif

I know I'll be damn outdated that time, but at least I still get to play the games right? And it's the games that matter most right?

I really like games from both NDSL and PSP; but getting both at once would be very tough. That's why I opted to get an NDSL first, then PSP if I am still into gaming next year laugh.gif

I really like a lot of games on NDSL, to name a few:
- Pokemon D/P
- FFTA2 (English version coming out soon hehe tongue.gif)
- Harvest Moon (Island coming out soon hehe biggrin.gif)
and would love to try games like Ouendan/EBA, Advance Wars, Phoenix Wright, Lost Magic, Prof. Layton, and the list go on la LoL.

To conclude, just get both if you can afford. If you can't then just get one first, the one which you think you can utilize more, which have more games you like.. yea pretty much biggrin.gif

What's your favourite?
What's your purpose? Just games?
What's your budget?

Just ask yourself.
and is useless to hear people's opinion because is still your choice.
You can google it without opening this thread for this purpose I guess.

Close this thread.

i think it's better to wait for the new version of both console...
because from every angle both of them are improving..
For the new DS which is DSi will have camera and then more bigger screen..
For the new PSP which is PSP-3000 will have built in mic...

but for all in one multimedia handheld i prefer psp
