I did try some generic HDA drivers on an old mainboard with ALC888. It appears to install and work correctly BUT there is totally NO audio. So I just used Microsoft built-in drivers for that board.
The UAD drivers for Asus does work properly on another newer Asus mainboard that has a different chip. I didn't install the newer 877x.1 ones though since the folder structure looks different and it doesn't seem to have a setup.exe in it.
