actually there is... Start>Settings>Sounds & Notifications. Notifications tab > Event > Messaging: New text message > uncheck "Display message on screen".

That depends on what you normally use this phone for... example of software you may use are like Facebook client, Opera Mobile, Windows Marketplace, Microsoft MyPhone, Garmin GPS and etc...

some apps are available for free if you've installed the Windows Marketplace which you can download various apps from there similar to the iPhone thingy like that...

the Windows Marketplace can be obtained via cab installer from xda forum... just need a little search via google will get it...
i'm sorry i don't have the cab as it's already there in the phone when i flash the WM 6.5.x ROM...

i haven't heard about any antivirus for Windows Mobile Phone before and i don't think you ever need one actually... i'm a Windows Mobile user for many years and i've never encounter a virus before on my phone...

Get Garmin Mobile XT... it's much better than the iGo and the maps for Garmin Mobile XT is available from malfreemaps.com easily...
If you want to use some good themes or better UI for i780, find and install the SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 it will spiced up your i780 to the max on UI interface... else, try the PointUI interface...

erm... i'm not sure why he's facing the issue as i've used SPB Mobile Shell from 2.x till 3.x and didn't faced the issue mentioned although now i no longer used it as i moved on to WM6.5.x standard theme...

but then you always can try and if it causes trouble, you can uninstall it... your call

Samsung Intrepid is exclusively tied up with Sprint mobile carrier and this means that it may not be available in Malaysia via Samsung Malaysia... most likely if you really need one, either from Lowyat or eBay maybe... Intrepid could have been the idle replacement unit of i780 if not for the screen has been slightly downsized to 320x240 pixels as compared to ours 320x320...

I was actually waiting for the i780 replacement unit but then it seems to be erm... how should i say... will not be available hahaha coz Samsung is not releasing anymore 320x320 screen PDA phone with touch screen... sigh*** sad news...

The only 2 new model which come close as the direct replacement unit would be the Omnia Pro B7320 and B7330... having 320x480 pixels and 320x320 pixels respectively of non-touch screen PDA phone (means that only Windows Mobile 6.1 and 6.5 Standard)... in terms of phone design both of them are quite similar to one another and is similar to the Intrepid... you can have a look at them here...

hmm... can't blame Samsung though for the low spec of the camera megapix coz they target this phone for business segment, thus all business segment phone have relatively low spec camera but bumped up high in others area such as Processor (32-bit Marvell PXA310 624 MHz processor which is far much more juice than HTC Diamond) and Memory (128 MB RAM, 256 MB ROM)...

further more this phone was back dated to late 2007 and back then the entry level for business phone camera is 2MP
as for now, the business phone camera is still very much bumped up only up to 3.2MP after 2-3 years since the i780 model... clear examples would be the OMNIA B73x series...

at the time of i780 released date and time, no doubt it was a superb complete package of mobility...
(btw, i don't work for Samsung hahaha...i just like this phone... )

Noler...I bought this phone very long time ago ler from FMG and becoz it was very new back then I paid quite a lot for it..compare the price now...haih...really cheap ler now...

2MB nvm lar... still got plenty 140MB around mar... lolx...

this i780 is indeed very fast and snappy... on paper and actual

as expected that Samsung MY official only brought in the 1000mAh version... strange i have not heard of any 1750mAh version battery before, other than the Mugen 3000mAh and Seido 3000mAh which both comes with extended cover due to the huge size... i would not recommend the 1750mAh unless the brand is known for replacement battery likes the Mugen and Seido... but then this is my opinion oni hehehe...

hmm... last time i used to restore the entire SMS of mine too but then i don't look at them one actually so i use Microsoft MyPhone and back it up... then archive it on the MyPhone website and then delete them from the phone... so whenever i wanna look at my old SMS-es, i go and find them at MyPhone website instead... so now whenever i flash to a newer ROM, it faster for me to restore and backup as the database of SMS-es now is smaller and of coz it's growing day-by-day.. till when it's too huge again, i will archive it using MyPhone once more...

MyPhone is a great tool to use for backing up and restoring SMS-es and Contact... basically, WM 6.5.x are quite stable on our unit...

If you flash IronEagle's ROM, MyPhone should already be there...

IronEagle ROM is the actual Win Mobile 6.5.x ROM which is build on top of Samsung last ROM for i780 (DXIB1)... you need to have your phone running the official DXIB1 ROM from Samsung prior flashing to IronEagle's ROM... that's the pre-requisite...

erm... i've not tried to install MyPhone onto WM 6.1 before, but then you can try by doin this... since Microsoft MarketPlace can be installed onto WM 6.1, you first get the MarketPlace running on your WM 6.1 then open up the MarketPlace and try to download the MyPhone application directly from the MarketPlace and installed it onto your phone... if it works and you're able to install it... then most likely WM 6.1 is supported...

btw, which DPI are you installing on your phone? i reckon it must be 96DPI coz the 128DPI is kinda too HUGE!!!... hahaha...

you mean what's the difference between 96 DPI and 128 DPI?

yeah, it's the screen resolution... if you wanna feel it for yourself, try to flash it to 128 DPI... then you'll know what i meant by HUGE GIGANTIC icon and font...
