this is really have to depending on you.
if you think you are serious with it, and not 3minutes hot
you can try to get as good as possible, depending on how much you have.

LOL it's not as easy to find Kapoks nowadays! Now under a hundred you can easily find these smaller bodied guitars loaded with steel string in various brands, which doesn't play and sound nice. I actually prefer Kapoks to these! My advice, save a couple hundreds more and get something better, like a lower end Yamaha.

but maybe u should drop by smx and try it.
when i tried it fingerstyle it didnt sound that good, then i took out my jazz III pick.
and then to me it sounded much better than those RM4k guitars smx has left tongue.gif

btw, smx now are gonna bring in breedlove acoustics...they have 1 now...1 has already been sold.

yea they told me theyre bringing in breedlove sometime ago.

oh if thats the case then maybe i made the right choice as i do play fingerstyle more on my acoustic. once i hold a pick i tend to play what i usually do on an electric. habits die hard. tongue.gif

What ever it is, get a solid top, if you can afford it that will last you for a long time. U will appreciate it's tonal quality as you grew better. Otherwise, get a good quality non-solid top guitar. The neck is very important, as it must feel comfortable to press. Get a friend who knows to test for you.

I dont know about their folk guitar, but i dun like their classical guitar, sounds very lame and no attack. Even their trumpet doesnt have much of a attack, despite being easier to play.

Aww.. no one recommend Samick yet? last time i tested it was quite good. biggrin.gif

I tried a farida guitar last time, i think its quite expensive, considering the fact that they are made in china.. However, that being said, the tone is quite good.. But, i do not remember how the tone:price ratio is like..

i agree with the yamaha f310.

It's a great guitar for a great price, perfect for beginners.

Or you can get the one with built-in pickup, which is f310-something something. Was EX, XS or whatever? but it ends with two letters. the price is around 600 if i remember right. =)

Hope that i can help as well. I'm not good at guitar but my younger brother can play quite well. I just occasionally play for fun to my 3 year old tongue.gif

I think the Yamaha is quite a good buy for the budget you mentioned. I bought a f410 about 10 years back and its still with me till today. Mainly for rough usage like go picnic with family to seaside etc. Along the way we had quite a few good ones and sold a few as well.

Sorry that i have to hijack your thread as well.

Has anyone tried Garrison's entry level guitar like G20 or G30? I am in a dilemma of getting an acoustic guitar within the price of below RM2k. First in my mind was Taylor Big Baby at about RM1.6k but after browsing some discussion thread, seems that there are quite a few choices around like S&P, Ibanez etc. What's your say if budget is around or below RM2k? rclxub.gif

Agree. For 1k, yamaha wouldn't ba bad choice.

Anyway, i'm facing the same dilemma as patrickfam. rclxms.gif I've also been longing to get an acoustic guitar below RM2k. Thought of getting a takamine at first but something caught my eyes after that. WALDEN guitar. not a famous brand, made in china but it's specs are kinda tempting. I personally do not like taylor cz i feel i'll b paying too much for the quality. Haha (sorry taylor owners) Does anyone own a walden guitar?

Just don't go for Fender or Ibanez for acoustic. There are just Brands.
