i open the connect window, but it shows 'Celcom'
i tried to connect, it replied something like "yuo are in roomming area, charges will be higher, continue? '
I click cancel.
My question is: can I connect?
How much is the charges?

depends, 3G do tend to drop line more than wired connection
*
i don't agree, last time i use Celcom BB (RM68month basic package)
i can torrent from 9pm until next day morning 9am never disconnect.
but celcom is a bit slow (about 110kbps at night and 250kbps in morning)

now i change to U mobile BB unlimited. It does drop line sometime when using it to surf web.
but i haven't try to use it for torrent download.
(just subscribe it last week and busy with other thing at the moment)

Just wondering...
Is U Broadband also use the same transmission tower as Celcom?
heard that U mobilephone is using Celcom's transmission tower infrastructure (even in KL,Seremban,Ipoh)
Wikipedia link about U mobile
but for U Brandband, U Mobile Sdn Bhd use their own's transmission tower infrastructure.
That is why U Broadband only cover Klang valley, KL,PJ to Seremban and Ipoh area.
correct me if i am wrong.....

What about coverage outside the covered area?

i mean, for call I believe it's will be covered by celcom. What about data service also the same? or no data service when roaming with celcom?
*
When outside coverage area, i tried it before, you simply can't connect.
No roaming with Celcom for broadband data service.
(I tried in Melaka, Johore, even Genting also no coverage, other people might have more information?)
I think the reason is;
for broadband data service, U mobile use their own's tranmission tower.
but for voice call, U mobile have to use Celcom's transmission tower in-order to achive nation wide coverage,
and so far, for what i know, U mobile only have their own's tranmission towers in Klang valley,KL,PJ, Seramban and Ipoh. (correct me if i am wrong)

I really like U Broadband, very fast speed, stable (no more disconnect this few day)
but when I go to Penang Kuantan Johor Bahru, i have to use Celcom prepaid broadband.
Hope U mobile will extend their coverage to Penang Kuantan Johore Bahru very soon.

@KLlee , are you referring torrenting?
@aneip , I afraid not internet coverage if roam to Celcom for now
@alvinddm , there isn't any promotion like this, I just asking, cause I think it is good deal, during the last 3 months, U Mobile speed is very good, ~ 2mbps but I didn't try torrent on it
*
for torrent, i am able to get average speed 19KB/s (152kbps)
but after 1 week torrent, total download already reach 5.5GB and i have to stop torrent
to avoid breaking the 6GB quota. biggrin.gif

for other download like download from windows update, i am able tp get 1.5mbps
and when download virus update also 1.5mbps

seems that none of the broadband packages offer decent upload speed. was thinking DiGi but it has very poor coverage at my area.
*
Maxis BB upload speed is able to reach 256kbps (UM only about 60kbps)
last time i have Maxis BB, it data transfer quota is 2GB (RM78/month package)
in less than a week i finish the quota already than upload speed reduced to 50kbps!

Could be your laptop infected with malicious ware/virus/worm?
Some malicious ware/virus/worm will cause your laptop keep on sending ping attack to other people's server. And your laptop became a host machine to spread malicious ware/virus/worm to others people's machine.
one example Symentec's technical detail about this worm
or malicious ware that can cause your laptop become a relay station for spam mail read wikipedia for more info
when some people detected that your laptop keep on sending out attack/spam, they just have to disconnect you from the internet.

My advice, clean you laptop from malicious ware/virus/worm, or even reformat your laptop harddisk and reinstall Winxp.
Never connect you laptop to free public wifi again, that is the place your laptop get infected with malicious ware/virus/worm easily.
thumbup.gif

addition note: sorry, am not accuse you do spam attack, just wanted to point out that it is possible the spammer hijack your laptop machine and you totally don't know what happening. Once you laptop got hijacked it will keep on sending out spam/malicious ware/virus/worm to other people’s machine.

don't understand why U broadband only give us 50 to 60kbps upload speed.
You want to send a 7MB file and it take very long time.
other mobile broadband is able to provide use with at least 200kbps upload speed.

That is the main reason i am going to cancel my U broadband. sad.gif

that's why I said almost instant, DiGi also need some time, but I signed up during the road show, like 6 hours only can be use
*
me singup Maxis few months ago in Maxis service centre,
they fill in form for me, payment by credit card.
The are able to activate my account on the spot (in lest than 10 minutes)

but one month later i found out that the 3GB quota is too small.
if there are other bb provider offer higher quota with more or less similar price than that is the "switch and jump"
although the coverage area might not as good as Maxis as long as we use it inside the coverage area only.

in written is after 5GB but last month after 10++ GB then i was throttled d. some of us now exactly after 5GB

just now got Umobile signal at Taman Pauh Jaya Penang~!
umobile is expanding~ whistling.gif

I am wondering what is the upload speed in the area Penang.
here in KL, tried with umobile broadband before, its upload speed is only 50kbps (more or less)

umobile user does not get individual ip, meant many people sharing one ip.
same like Celcom.

Only Maxis and Digi subscriber able to get individual ip. Just like streamyx, everyone obtain individual ip (dynamic ip)
with individual ip, you can host your own's webserver and website on your broadband connection whether it is dsl or mobile broadband (HSDPA).

Maxis and Digi's upload speed is around 384kbps, it is good enough for hosting webserver for one website.
