Need some information on U-Mobile Surf with ur own modem thingy. I just need to check on whether there is a cap on your usage? Will the speed really drop alot if we hit the quota? Please advise. Thanks.

Added on July 2, 2009, 9:47 amGot information from a U-Mobile user mentioning that you can't download from rapidshare coz U-Mobile doesn't offer dynamic IPs. Is there any solution to this? Does a third party helps?

I am a heavy user of Rapidshare, this would be a big problem for me. Please advise. Thanks.

And I the profile I added it say APN (Access Point Name).. does any one know what is the APN for Umobile? And do we need any username and password as the profile in my Sierra Wireless watcher would need me to fill the details up.

ZTE600 .. Ic... but that is too bulky for me.. Btw, its a cool way to share UM's fast connection! smile.gif

Btw, I found that UM's speed is not consistent.. I downloaded a file around 150KB/s and above..then the next file it drop to less than 100KB/s ... I am wondering why..

Just paid RM199 for a new data sim + modem. But the new line not activated yet so using the old UM data sim.

Btw, I just think that there are some small problem here. My intention is to actually keep my earlier data sim (been using for around a month) and pay RM199 to get the modem and 3 months usage. But found out that I have to register for another U68 data sim, which mean I have 2 UM data sim on my name right now. Anyway, I am going to cancel the one that I've been using and use the one that I've just paid RM199.

I just think that UM's management on user accounts is a bit messy. Why can't they just let me top up on my existing account and less the hassle. Now I have to go to Time Sq. and cancel off my earlier U68 surf without modem package.

Anyway, this promotion is still worth it. I am using the modem now. Speed is actually about 2.0MB/s. Btw, the E220 is only a 3.6MBs modem, will upgrade it to 7.2MBs later.

yeah, the previous U68 SURF is not the same as current UB68.

better cancel the previous U69 SURF and stay with UB68.

btw, i was told that UM's billing will be ON TIME now!  thumbup.gif
*
smile.gif ... I guess I can cancel it now as well. Dont need to wait! haha...going to Times Sq...later today...once my new SIM is activated...need to say bye bye to my old SIM.

at a slightly congested area (i.e. residential areas) would get this avg speed.

at home, lowest: 100-150KBps. avg: 250KBps. top: 3xxKBps <-- at lowest speed, it's still faster than shitmyx 1M line
at KL city, always around 3xx-4xxKBps rclxm9.gif  icon_idea.gif

Totally agree... TMNut sucks!! My brother is on it and keep on complaining. I am going down KL again today..will check out the speed in KL today...

thumbup.gif just remember: any service that's is faster than shitmyx is good!

doesn't matter if it's wimax, digi, celcom, maxis, or u mobile. as long as they can provide affordable plans + faster-than-shitmyx, then i'm all happy.

tmnet/shitmyx should not be even operating at all. their crappy services doesnt deserve our respect/praise.

And yet now they tried to ask ppl not to cut. Hahaha...what a joke!

I am happy with my speed ... just did a speed test, result as below.

the dashboard that came with the modem is 'Mobile Connect' and after flashing it will become 'Mobile Partner'. Just uninstall mobile connect b4 you install the mobile partner. I think the mobile partner is much better then mobile connect.

Will there be any Maxis Branding on the mobile partner?? If I update the firmware and dash board that I download from Maxis's website. I am just curious.

I think there is also an updater from Vodafone, if you use that to update then your dashboard will have vodafone branding.

ok...just got the U68 connection tonight..and what i have to say is:

It sucks.

the connection are so weak (2 outta 5 bars) and according to their coverage map, my area is well within their HSDPA area.

had called their technical support, the guy is helpful and he said he would flagged this out to the technical team.

anyway..if this continues, i would have to switch to celcom or maxis.. sad.gif

Aiks.. Bro u sure ar? Which area are you in? In Klang Valley ... It never fails me before!

Btw, I think the connection is abit slow due to rainy day? I am not sure.... tongue.gif
