my uncle juz bought a 2nd hand v6, 2005 model, the one wit the stupid alfa grill.. i jumped out at the moment went my auntie drove it my house one day n gave me the car keys 2 take it out 4 a spin.. i really like the revised interior, a blend of luxury but kinda sporty at the same time.. the steering wheel also feels nice.. the seats r superb, really comfortable.. the driving position could be better, but its kinda ok 4 me..

the engine sounds kinda weird when u start it, kinda like a whining sound.. but on the road it feels really smooth n effortless.. acceleration feels kinda slow, maybe coz its quite heavy, but when get it up 2 speed, it feels really smooth n quiet.. comfortable too.. love 2 drive this car on long journeys..

the only downsides r, no airbags, still using old school instrumental panel wit analog odometer, although i do like the red motive, feels like a bimmer, no trip computer, n the GB have a reputation 2 kaput at a very early age.. but according 2 my uncle, the newer batch doesnt have this prob anymore coz theyve installed ATF cooler on it already..

overall, it rocks!! i like it!!

v6 cost around 100k..... wonder y so expensive and still have people drving it... i add somemore can buy civic/lancer already
if u gonna buy one new, i agree wit u, its expensive n ancient tech.. charging 100k 4 such old tech stuff is really crazy.. its got not many standard equipments n gadgets as well.. so really a not worth buy..

but, if u gonna buy one 2nd hand.. i pretty much agree.. u can get a decent condition 04 or 05 model 4 bout 50k, n i think thats a good buy.. think bout it, 50k 4 a big executive saloon thats actually still quite nice looking, comfortable n quite good 2 drive..

i tell u wat, if im in the market for a 50k budget car, id dedefinitely consider a 2nd hand perdana v6 thumbup.gif

did a long journey in a perdana v6 yesterday.. was trying a new method of saving fuel by doin 90kmh on the highway, as it is the most economical speed.. as expected, this car is really nice 2 drive on highways n long journeys.. very comfortable, quiet n nice 2 drive..

was travelling wit 4 person on board n boot full of stuff.. could say the car was fully occupied.. i could say that the car doesnt sip fuel as much as i expected it 2 be.. not sure yet though, havent done a proper calculation.. im judging juz by the fuel gauge..

but, one thing i notice is, when ure overtaking someone, its quite hard 2 get it up 2 speed.. is it only mine, or is it the same wit all v6s??

only thing is.. its damn hard 2 drive economically on our roads, coz a lot of mofos will cucuk ur behind n flash around asking u 2 go faster eventhough im already on the most left lane.. stupid mofos!! u would expect in the days of massive petrol hike like now people would start 2 go slowly n learn 2 save fuel.. these people who r the ones whom u see on tv keep making noise n doin demonstrations bout the fuel hike, coz they drive like stupid idiotic maniacs!! learn 2 control ur right foot u mofos!! maybe u could save some money n can afford 2 buy rice 4 ur family dry.gif

driving @ 90kmh does give the best milage than driving 100kmh.
like the Proton Savvy record milage (RM0.08 per km) that was done by Proton, the driver does only 80-90 kmh around malaysia.

for overtaking, i think its ok la. quite a lot of pull.
but the gb does not drop the gear at the right time, so u have to accelerate early..
or u can press the overdrive button to "OD Off"..
yeah lor.. i 4get that the v6's gearbox is quite low tech, so it will not immediately shift down when u accelerate.. i shouldve turn off the OD..

i dont wanna use the cruise control as its better 2 use ur own foot 2 drive economically.. i guess it works, coz at the end i realize it doesnt use as much fuel as i expected it 2 be.. from now on, ill do 80-90kmh on highway, thnx JC for the tip thumbup.gif

i wouldnt recommend u 2 take a perdana, becoz 4 that kinda budget, u'll only be able 2 get a really old model..

well, ive never owned any of those, but ive spent a lot of time wit both cars as both r owned by my family..

yes, it is true that the waja is a more modern car, it is afterall designed later than the perdana.. it is one class lower than the perdana, which makes it smaller.. but the space inside is enough 4 a family of 5, n if u go 4 the premium version, it comes wit dual air bags n abs.. but it is infamous 4 its power window failure n fragile door handles.. n the interior is of quite a low grade.. hard plastics everywhere n u can see the build quality is crap as well.. u can see huge gaps in the fitments n fittings, n the knobs n switches feel obviously cheap.. but u cant deny the drivetrain.. the earlier models comes wit a 1.6 mitsu engine that is quite robust, as wit the gearbox, both auto n manual.. so if u take care of the engine well, im confident it will continue running well, even when all the stuff around it starts fallin off.. comfort n handling is gud enough.. long journeys is no sweat 4 the waja, n handling is good 4 wats supposed 2 be a boring family saloon.. n u can get a good one well within ur budget..

as 4 the perdana, it is one of my favorite malaysian car.. i love the way it looks, (the alfa style as well as the 1st v6 version), i love the way it drives, n i love the pricetag too.. u can get a really good one 4 under 50k these days.. the v6 engine is robust, performance is adequate 4 a 2.0L v6 unit, but it is infamous 4 its gearbox prob.. the mitsu supplied 4 speed auto is quite an obsolete unit, n prone 2 failure especially after 150k kms on the clock.. lots owners out there solved this prob by converting it 2 a manual, but 2 me, a big comfy car like these is more suited wit an auto wit its laid back relaxed drivin style.. the v6 is robust, it is a mitsu engine afterall, n i love the way it sounds too.. but dont 4get, maintenance is gonna be higher than the waja, it being a v6 n all.. but take care of it right, im sure it'll serve u well.. i have 2 say, long journeys is this car's forte.. n thanx 2 some lotus magic, it handles quite well 4 a big saloon.. space wise, eventhough its big from the exterior, from my pov, i feel that its only slightly bigger than the waja.. but it has a better interior no doubt.. soft plastics n the switches r of better quality than the waja.. dont misunderstand me, its no audi, n when i say its better, its only slightly better than the waja.. the indicator stalks 4 example, feels really cheap.. but the seats r fabulous.. its very comfortable, n they hug u in the right places.. the leather interior is nice as well..

so there u have it, my opinion on waja vs perdana..

zetty.. if u wanna permanently solve the gearbox prob 4 the perdana, yes, it is advisable 2 convert 2 a manual.. most feedbacks that ive heard from owners who have done it said that it really unleashes more performance from the v6.. juz shows u how much of a power sucker the standard autobox is in the perdana..

well, i guess u could change the instrument panel wit the one from fto.. the fto has one version which uses the same v6 engine as the perdana (non turbo, non mivec), so im guessin (juz guessin here becoz im not sure bout this), u could juz hook it up in the perdana.. but even it is do-able, have 2 do some mod 2 the dash area 2 fit the fto's cluster into the perdana dash.. ive seen some perdana that did this, but the guy converted his engine 2 v6 mivec engine from the fto..
