Anyone know where is the best place to convert AT to MT transmission for Perdana? Is it advisable? how much it cost normally? blink.gif
*
normally any workshop experienced in doing engine mod can do it.
where do u live?
if in Klang Valley, then i can recommend 2 workshops that are expert in everything Perdana..

the cost now from rm3.5k to 5k (siap pasang) depending on the manual gb model/code (which defers in terms of normal duty or heavy duty, or short ratio or long ratio) and depending on other parts (parts for gear lever and pedal from Eterna/Galant cost more than modding it from a Lancer/Evo/RVR..)

QUOTE(maeve @ Sep 25 2012, 02:57 AM)
Hi guys,

New Perdana V6 owner & a new driver here  smile.gif

1. I have a few questions. How much is the amount of engine needed for the engine? 4L or 5L? Some say 4L, some say 5, and some say whatever, unless its below the top mark and above the min mark on the dipstick (difference between min and max on the dipstick is kinda huge, I am kinda like...  sweat.gif  ). Since the manual for the car is missing since I got it, I have no idea. Need to change oil soon. Pls help.

2. I never drove a brand new PV6 before,so cant compare. is it normal if the GB shift is a bit harsh when gearing down/up (especially down)?  And I notice that when I change from N to D, got a bit delay before the gear is in, and theres a little bit of 'kick'. Let say if i hit the gas a bit when changing N to D..the GB will kick the car forward. I duno whether it's normal, or the GB start getting faulty, or using wrong type of ATF..  icon_question.gif

3. Can I do any servicing at any workshops I can find on the street(oil change, GB oil change, generic engine stuff), since I honestly have no idea regarding this. As long as its not a motorcycle shop, its fine right?  laugh.gif   BTW I live near Bandar Baru Ampang, so if u sifus have any workshops u guys wana recommend, pls PM me. Thanks so much.
*
1. normally, 4L is just nice but to be precise, max line will be about 4.3L.

2. the kick just happens during shifting from N to D? i believe its the solenoid or clutch. but do as what Omnipotent advised, do a drain, replace (ATF filter) and refill.

3. to drain and refill the ATF is very straight forward. but to replace the ATF filter requires opening of the ATF sump. a local ATF filter set will set u back around rm50. for ATF, u can use any Multi Vehicle ATF which has an SP3 spec.. i'd recommend my fren's workshop, but its in Taman Sri Manja, PJS3...

hi all, i'm in the market for a used car, and have an interest in the perdana v6.
1. please can i know the average FC of the V6 in town driving?
2. is the cost of ownership really as high as some claimed it to be? i'm used to a few other national cars like Wira, myvi, saga. So how does the V6 compare?
3. the auto gearbox problem i keep hearing, what is it about? is it a sure-happen thing? what should i look for when test-driving in dealerships for a used V6?
4. if unlucky and the gearbox fails (#3) is it an expensive fix?
5. i've heard of some owners talking about the ATF cooler 3rd party installation. what is this about? can it solve problem #3 above for real?
6. what other thing should i know about the perdana v6?
thank you so much. would appreciate any and all inputs! smile.gif
*
1. based on my calculations: town - 8km/L @ 18.8 US mpg @ 22.6 UK mpg; hiway - 11.5km/L @ 27.1 US mpg @ 32.5 UK mpg

2. the cost of ownership is average for me. usually a car that has done high mileage requires more care and expenses for wear & tear.

3. i guess at the rate of my fren or people i know having an auto gb problem, its 80% chance u'll get it. and just like Omnipotent said, excessive jerking and delay in gearshifts..

4. usually its around RM1.5k-1.8K with 3-6 months warranty. a fella in FB is selling a recon gb for RM1K with 3 months warranty.

5. from 2005, ATF cooler are installed to all Perdana. if ur car is before that, u should install it to prolong the lifetime of ur gearbox. a fren of mine who is a Proton Rally Team mechanic, have tested a gb without ATF cooler gets about 160C and after installing an ATF cooler 80C (hiway drive). u can look for any cooler at halfcut or buy new like Hayden, Works, Koyo..

6. i've just replied to a fren who's looking for a Perdana as well, so i'll just copy it:

Fuyoh.. im new here.

im driving this car.

Model 2007.

For oil consumption:-
Full tank RM95+, but less than RM105.
Milleage per tank 500-520km.

I personally think it's oil consuming compared to others.

Recently, my seatbelt cant auto retract back. Anyone knows where to fix and how much roughly?
*
my mileage is like above.
your fuel consumption calculation is based on what route?
if it's town driving, then its very good..

once my seatbelt wont retract back.
i just open the B-pillar panel, and play with the auto retract mechanism.
turns out its just stuck...

Added on November 23, 2012, 9:26 pmwhy my perdana V6 with full tank petrol ron 95 RM 100 only can go 400km?
*
RM100 = 400km
that around 7.6km/L
should be ok if its a town drive

QUOTE(maeve @ Dec 2 2012, 04:36 AM)
Your FC is kinda high. Mine from full tank to exactly half is around 250-300km (300km if I only use for work, daily hiway commute with no jam, 80-100kmh). Never tried finishing all my fuel to see total mileage for full tank.

Theres a lot of factors. Better get ur car checked 1st.
*
nice FC there..
urs is hiway drive, should get high FC

QUOTE(deric79k @ Dec 3 2012, 08:08 AM)
i sent my car to proton check , they say all ok ,

by the way what is ur car top speed?
*
what checks did they do?
do u feel anything not right?
jerking, semput2, no power, etc?

a stock standard perdana v6 auto should get at least 220km/h
i've done that several times before
now with different engine, cannot go more than 180km/h... bcoz of speedcut. haha..

QUOTE(Omnipotent @ Dec 3 2012, 09:43 PM)
I get about 10kms/l...and I usually drive around 110 - 130 unless kena cucuk on highway then 180+
*
nice FC there..
can go faster la bro. haha

QUOTE(cafuheva @ Dec 6 2012, 12:12 AM)
what the best brand for perdana v6 brake pad prefer less than rm500. The proton one is too much for me, RM1000 for full set at proton.
*
if u mention brake pad, not the whole system, then rm500 is too much, memang kena kencing la like that.
front set brakepad; Bosch PowerPlus ~ RM50, Bendix Metal King Titanium ~ RM120
rear set brakepad should be the same or cheaper.

for RM1000, u can get Mitsu Galant or Eterna twinpot brake set front and rear (disc + caliper); or a front set GTO 4-pot caliper + disc

anybody can advise me the cheapest halfcut engine to convert perdana V6..

RVR?
evo1?
TT?
mivec MD?

or others..

with price and installation...

please consider the best fuel consumption and maintenance too...

thanks v6 sifu's...
*
installation is usually around RM1.5K-2K (keluar enjin lama, masuk enjin baru, wiring, lock gb 4wd ke fwd)
standby RM1K for wear & tear stuff like timing belt, spark plug, waterpump, oil filter, enjin oil, air filter, etc...

halfcuts prices u can refer to www.mudah.my
prices at kedai potong also similar

if u wanna get the cheapest turbo engine, get RVR (like me! hehe..)
halfcut is around RM4.5-5.5 depending on model year (intercooler atas or intercooler depan)
enjin lantai complete semua should be cheaper by about rm1K from halfcut price

if vapour already hilang, then u should put silicon around the headamp

Hi all ..

My car specs :
Car : Proton Perdana S.E.I
Engine : Convert to 4G93 SOHC ( Proton Putra 1.8 )
Gearbox : Wira 1.6 Manual ( Spoiled and Crack )

Problem :
I want to change my gearbox, which kind of gearbox that can fit my 4G93 SOHC ?
I am ready to fit this Perdana S.E 2.0 Manual gearbox back in but how sure that this gearbox will not making any problem again ?
Which, my 4G93 is 1.8 and my gearbox is 2.0 ? Is it going to fixed ?

rclxub.gif
*
aik?
u downgraded to 1.8 from 2.0?
anyway, manual gb should be tough
i guess as long as the casing fits, then u should be able to use SEI gb to ur 4G93 engine
hopefully the 2.0 gear ratio will not be 'funny' to ur 1.8 engine..

Hi guys, a few doubts I have  brows.gif
1. Can we use bigger alternator amps for the car? for example, 100A..u duno the current alternator's amperage tho..any thoughts?
2. Any improvements in GB smoothness if we use 3rd party fully syn ATF oil? (Amsoil for example).
3. Can we retune/remap the stock ECU or add piggyback for better performance/efficiency?
4. Any recommendation for good aftermarket shocks? Now I'm using TEIN Hi/Lo adjustable. Although its rili nice for high speed n cornering, it gives a harsh n noisy ride in general. Need a softer shocks, but better than stock one. Now thinking about Sachs, Sapura ProRide and Maddriver's shocks. Duno if got any more brands..
hmm.gif
*
1. no use getting higher amps, afraid it will spoil electrical items in ur car..
2. it did for me. i'm using Pennzoil Multi Vehicle ATF
3. can retune - go to Proton. cannot remap/rechip to get higher performance. can add piggyback/standalone to get higher performance/efficiency
4. if u are using adjustable, u cannot change the shocks only, unless u are changing to a different shocks form a different adjustable. or u are changing the suspension to a standard suspension system or sports type.

hi all, i'm new here.. i've own a 2005 Manual PV6.. but lately my car got some performance issues.. when i'm start to accelerate the car..my engine seem got no power start "jerking" and hesitate around like power been cutoff (like honda with faulty vtech), fyi i just change the bosch performance spark plugs cables, spark plugs, air filter, service the throttle body n air flow sensor.. but its doesn't solved my problems...

anyone got this same problems and solved it?? help me. sad.gif
*
jerking like gearbox jerks or jerking like not enough fuel or air?
i guess its like the engine not getting enough fuel or air.
this is tricky coz u change/service a lot of things sekaligus..
maybe ur AF ratio is disturbed. go to any proton service centre and ask them to retune back the ECU to get optimum AF ratio back.
or u can check the airflow sensor, sparkplug and spark plug cable to see if its working ok..

right now im looking for a perdana to buy...
the most worrying part is about the gearbox..
after i read many reviews about the problem of perdana v6 auto gearbox..
im afraid if im unlucky and buy a perdana with gearbox problem..
im looking for auto model only...
can u guys tell me...
is the perdana sei auto gearbox also have the same problem as the v6 gearbox?
*
Sei will also have this problem, how soon, no one knows.
one thing u can do is, get a Perdana with ATF cooler installed or if its not, then go install it.
it may prolong the health of the gbox.

QUOTE(genericsoul @ Apr 1 2013, 03:04 PM)
Hi All,

I am a new PV6 owner. Just got my car a couple of days back and I believe it was an awesome deal. 2008 model priced at slightly above RM30k..what more could I ask for?
Btw, since I have upgraded from a normal 1.6 Manual, I have to say that the PV6 FC is significantly higher (duh!!)..will just have to get used to it.

By and large, the driving experience of this car is awesome..it's just sweet and I am completely happy with it.

What I'd like to know is:

1. What kind of ATF is recommended for this car and is a 20k interval acceptable? I keep seeing differing views on ATFs. Some say Mitsubishi Diaquen is good..while others say just stick to proton's. Als0, how many litres is required? I asked a mechanic about PV6 ATF oil, he told me it's nearly 200 with no mention about how many litres is required..just wondering if it's the truth.

2. What is the recommended engine oil for this car?

3. Do I need to change my brake/pwr steering oil as well since I've just gotten the car from the 2nd hand car dealer?

4. What spark plugs are recommended?

Hope some of you can guide me through this and all feedback is much appreciated guys.

Cheers.
*
1. u need ATF with SPIII (SP3). can use Proton SP3, Mitsubishi Diaqueen SP3, Kia/Hyundai SP3, or any Multi Vehicle ATF with SP3 spec. i use Pennzoil Multi-Vehicle ATF and recommends it. i also do gbox service (change ATF and ATF filter) every 20K km, the most is 25K km if the ATF is still maroon color. Pennzoil MultiVehicle ATF is around RM80-90 for 4L bottle. u need about 3.5-4L..

2. for V6, i previously use Pennzoil 10w-40 semi-syn. now not V6 i use different EO.

3. just check it first, if both look ok, then dont need. but if u are a paranoid tongue.gif , then flush and change them..

4. for V6, better get Iridium sparkplugs, as it lasts longer. bcoz changing sparkplug on perdana v6 is very troublesome. cry.gif

1. What size of the cooler is the right size suitable for both city (traffic jam) n highway (includes hill climb) .... I'm using hayden now so called 17row but felt crappy once drive long hours.
2. Anyone installed a temp sensor to monitor the gearbox temp before ?
3. Did anyone do soundproofing on their car and can i have some review ? Coz my budget is quite low

Any idea on what kind of transmission code should I be looking for and how much will it cost plus installation?

I will be spending most of the time on the highway btw.

Thanks.
*
u can get manual tranny from RVR, SEI (GLi), Evo, Eclipse or even 4G64 mitsu engine.
just aim for a 4 piston gbox with code like F5M312, F5M222, F5M322, F5M332
just standby with RM4-4.5K for all in (siap pasang) with gear lever, pedals, cables, etc..

Thanks for your reply bro.
I got myself a F5M312, costed 3.9k with installation by a friend. It lasted only for three days before I could engage into all gears without clutch in. They replaced the tranny FOC under warranty but this time I see that it's a W5M312 and I'm suspecting this is a 4wd locked. I did not pay for this. I paid for a 2wd gearbox which is supposedly lighter. I have yet to see him on this matter.

Btw, which of these has the longest ratio?
*
W5M312 will work fine except for the extra kilos la. but i dont think it will make much difference. as long as the foreman knows how to throw away all the 4wd items and weld the differential, then no problem..
i think the longest/tallest ratio should be 222. 312 is a short ratio gbox.

Mine is a 6a10 v6 wira. the problem is i will be always getting a TAK TAK TAK TAK noise when initially started the car and the noise only will gone after the engine has warmed enough. any solution to this ?

thats normal.
the hydaulic tappet in 6A engines are like that.
when u start, the oil needs some time to warm up and get back up to the tappets if u parked overnight.
use mineral engine oil and the noise will be slower..
