i went thailand.. bought *P* boxset of the kingdom..
i bought coz i was surprised the outside of the box wrote 'bluray'..

and when i test is.. quality is superb.. DVD9..
the best thing is there is tons of extras..
lots of makings interviews.. subtitles also like 12 options (including commentatory)
voice over got 4-5 asian language..
its unlike other dvd i have..

i suspect they rip some content of bluray version..

of coz it cost me RM11 after conversion..

apisgogo YAY!!! wink.gif

Spot on. There are shops in SS2 that claimed the same whereby the cover is printed with BD logo. I seriously doubt it as Unc Ho has not make in-road to the BD's 'firewall' tongue.gif

Nope. Let's give him some time to arrange things. His friend is only touching down today. Give her some rest from the long flight. I know I need at least 24 hrs to recover.

Not necessarily. I've tried converting an 8 GB, 1080p MKV file into a DVD9 as a DVD-Video format, the quality is much better than original DVDs (at least in my case). Though details are lost (because of being downgraded of 480p), the vibrant colors, deep blacks and depth are fantastic! And maybe a little bit sharper picture too. thumbup.gif

I suspect what they did was rip the movie, menus, subtitles & features off a blu-ray and reconstruct them into a DVD9. That's why the quality is somewhat better than the original DVDs.

Anyway, the idea of a exact replica of the original DVDs can't be ruled out either. wink.gif

LOL, a proper ori DVD (or a fake dvd9 straight copy) will get you that quality (don't need to rip from Blu-ray), it's just that we are getting re-compressed mpeg dvd5s (with dvd9) sticker...

I have burned a 1080p MKV file into DVD format, the quality is much better than original dual-layer DVD. Try it, use a wonderful small program called ConvertXtoDVD.

Even though it's practically downscaled to 480p DVD format, the clean source that was prepped for blu-ray makes the difference.

I don't do that anymore since I have the PS3, and blank DVD9s are quite expensive. tongue.gif

And about that DVD9 sticker, there are some that really is. You just need to know where to look, and they're usually more expensive. Of course, the only way to confirm is by inserting iinto your laptop DVD drive and see the properties. wink.gif

Apis' doing you a favor, when it's ready you'll get it. You're getting free shipment, be patience. You can wait 4 weeks for standard shipping that costs you more, sure you can wait few days for this.

As for the DVD, yes, you can even get DTS if your source MKV has that audio track. Google for the ConvertXtoDVD for more info.
