The difference between Gurney and Queensbay is Gurney Plaza has more choices and variety for fashion brands and is mainly promotion based. Queensbay Mall has more events, activities and quite a good mix of F&B choices that you can't find at Gurney. A good example is Dragon-I which was at Queensbay Mall for 3 years.. now only they're opening an outlet at Gurney Plaza.

Once Paragon opens, depending on their tenant mix and direction... I should think that Gurney could be affected badly. 1st Avenue? I say good luck la... fighting for crowd in town... There's Prangin Mall and Gama which is doing ok.. Times Square and Komtar is barely surviving, opening another mall seems like a bad idea. Penang simply do not have the population to support that many shopping malls.

Oh.. and if you can't make it or go to all the local food hawkers in Penang, Queensbay Mall has a new food court on the 3rd Floor that has pretty decent Penang food and deserts.

Yea.. I think Gama is doing much better than Pacific in Komtar (which has nobody going there from what I hear)... Komtar should have kept its Sungei Wang feel.. I think a lot of people enjoy that kind of place...

No idea where Paragon is opening but judging from the development of a few companies.. there are more malls to come within this 5 years.. LOL

Komtar got pacific? biggrin.gif i went to Komtar a few years back also feel so creepy. you know the entrance near the temple there, go up the stairs..... not even halfway also got this eerie silence, which was so unlike back in the 90s.

back then they even have Carls Jr (i think) with KFC and MCD (both near center court). McD side leads to Super while KFC wan was near Parkson or something.

Bukit Jambul also last time hot a while then last i went also like dead.

One Stop also looks great when it opened with Dave's Deli (1st day already it's there, my 1st time eating Dave's also) then but now also look so lousy.
cos Paragon I see work done quite a lot already when I was in Penang around June last year.

yea.. those days, the Carls Jr was nice and priced reasonably as well!! thumbup.gif

I usually eat at Genting (off Jalan Delima).. they have quite a good selection or behind Genting coffee shop also got another new one which has pretty good food as well.
Or you can check out the corner coffee shop in Pulau Tikus (before the traffic lights)

Which Sunway? Sunway Hotel in Prai? Sunway Pyramid?

I thought Sunway Hotel was along Macalister? The food stalls outside Sunway Hotel along there has horrible and expensive food...
