Just frankly I don't mind providing a free service but if it gives me headache and people aren't grateful, not much of a point to do it.

Getting smses at the middle of the night, ppl complaining this and that, complaining about other players, complaining about not enough custom maps, complaining that always play normal maps, complaining that the custom map not nice, complaining about lag spike, complaining about why i don't open a 2nd server, complaining about alltalk, complaining when i remove alltalk....lol

Some more people who have the nerve to constantly hassle for Admin access. Go die la.

Yes tho 100 tickrate will be quite expensive. A lot of my sources say anything past 66 tick on a internet server isn't quite worth it.

U can expect to pay about rm 260 a month for such a server

Got hosting for CS ; Source , 100-tickrate, 16 slots ? ;D

This is most likely going to be the case.

Have no interest in supporting the TF community any further as whenever I bring it up, I get a bunch of headache again tongue.gif

No more sponsorships in the near future from BolehVPN for the gaming community most likely unless there really is 'something in it' for us as our experience in this matter has been pretty bad with little goodwill generated for it.

Malaysian attitude what to do.

COD4 server is very empty all the time.

Ever since it became Hardcore and search and destroy.

and also because its FULLY original only.

I think if you can revert back to TDM and non hardcore, more people will join.

I usually play on fragnetics, the server got full and people keep asking about BVPN COD4. But since it's HC and SND now, they dont even bother going there when fragnetics is full.

sad.gif

reuben, can we make it TDM and non HC for COD4?

The server is wasted, nobody play there anymore.
*
Strangely when we did it TDM no one played there and ppl asked us to switch it to HC and SND. They practically flamed us for having it TDM.

Anyway the very guys who were criticizing and spitting on my server are setting up their own TF2 public server (not with us) so you probably will have a replacement server soon.

Added on October 7, 2008, 11:59 pmMaintenance completed. All game servers are back up.

Tell me about it...

Same sort of shit I get on TF. Alltalk no alltalk, this mod that mod this custom map no custom map. Rules, admins. Sometimes I spend HOURs trying to implement what u guys asked for only to find no one using that feature. That I don't mind too much but when u start insulting me and my server behind my back, that's way too much. I wish the Agent guys all the best since it is their opinion that I am making ppl's life miserable by providing the TF server.

*
Apparently some of the people whose name begin with Agent (don't know which letter la)

They were not even complaining about map loading times for that matter.

We are currently are not aware of anyways to host a dota server on a linux machine as it seems to be mostly hosted on a person's computer which has to be manually started and joined.

As long as there is payment since then we only have to answer to the server's renter, and not their players.

But yeah not really interested for Dota servers unless there's really some good money to be made. more likely to be a demigod server haha

CS Servers are back up but the TF servers are taking some time. Not sure where the bottleneck is for the update. Continuing to try and update.

For those experiencing crashes with their CS servers, there was a bug in the linux engine which was fixed by a ninja update by Valve...(yeah how many years for a update only to mess it up eh).

we are now bringing up servers one by one. Most of them are already up. If by noon, you don't see your server up, please pm me.

Btw there seems to be a reported bug in the new TF2 build which does some funky stuff. We'll continue to stay abreast of updates.

Added on October 24, 2008, 8:49 amAlso those who are maintaining mods may find their mods disabled while those mod writers come up with something compatible. amxmodx does not seem to be fully compatible.

Added on October 24, 2008, 2:29 pmThere is currently a problem with the Linux HLDS server.

That means those on half life 1 (cs1.6 and condition zero), will have repeated crashes on their server even on a vanilla install.

We are looking into this issue.

There appears to be a bug that has been acknowledged by valve on servers hosted by FreeBSD for HLDS servers:

pipes.cpp (600) : Assertion Failed: Stalled cross-thread pipe

pipes.cpp (600) : Fatal assert failed: /home/VALVE/alfred/valve/steam3_rel_client/src/common/pipes.cpp, line 600. Application exiting.

We are working with the Valve devs on resolving this issue as it looks to be faulty programming.

There has been 3 updates over the course of 48 hours so there's clearly something wrong atm...though it appears to be working on some systems:

http://www.mail-archive.com/hlds@list.valv...m/msg29544.html

for full details.

Subject: [hlds] Half-Life 1 Engine Update Released
We have released an update to the Half-Life 1 engine, run the
hldsupdatetool to get the update.

This update:
- enables the sv_visiblemaxplayers cvar again
- fixes the setmaster command so it can be used again
- lowers cpu usage

Issues that are still being worked on
- FreeBSD startup issues (that pipes assert)
- Demo record in hltv

and the constant optimisations to further help CPU usage (yes, I am
looking at you Linux!).

- Alfred

Okie there will be two days of interruptions to upgrade our system in preparation for L4D which is incompatible with our current OS and has given us immense headaches whenever an update is released. We were on FreeBSD which is an awesome efficient OS which has reportedly been more efficient than Linux on certain games but because of its slightly outdated Linux compatibility layer, this results in many issues on newer games.

We will now be moving to a true Linux OS.

Today at around 3 pm there will be a 1st phase of interruptions that should last a few hours.

The 2nd phase is for tweaking and tuning and may result in intermittent connectivity should we need to reboot the server.

The server is also being upgraded to 8 GB of RAM to accommodate further servers.

Many thanks for the support and big apologies to Destructo who has been waiting for our L4D servers patiently. biggrin.gif
