A month ago I was all set for Manado. Then I get a text/email from AA saying they're postponing the flight to a different date. Ok fine. Next thing I know, a week later I get another text and email about postponing to a different date!! Got so pissed off that I decided not to go incase they delay the flights back.

Is it just me or of late there seems to always be a delay in flights - for at least 30 mins to an hour? Same thing happened when I took a flight back from KK and for my flight heading to Chiang Mai.

I normally get there around 1 hour 15 minutes to 1.5 hours before flight coz I hate going extra early and waiting. The only disadvantage of checking in a bit late is not getting seats next to each other if you're going in a group.

Nowadays after AA implemenmt the seat numbering, even u are the 1st to check-in, they will not allocate seats according to your liking unless u pre-book!  mad.gif

I checked in late ~1hr b4 flight in Jul & all 3 of us getting diff seat numbering..Have to bet others in the plane to exchange. I used AA again in Aug & this time I went early..only 5 in line...& they still split us to 3 diff location!! My request to combine was not entertained at all......So those in Family, no choice hv to pre-book seat ..Otherwise kena penalty from AA!  mad.gif

Eh how come like that? Did you make bookings online for all 3 together? Once I checked in and the lady gave us different seats, but then I told her about it and she promptly changed our seats so we ended up seating together. But usually not a problem to get seats next to each other.

That's why I said earlier..I regretted not to pre-book earlier!!  doh.gif  If I had pre-book earlier, I will not ended in asking favour from nice folks inside the planes to switch seats rather than asking from the unhelpful check-in staff! Furthermore.who knows that by not prebook & coming earlier, we will be splitted anyway...bcos the AA computer system programmed that way to penalise those who dun pre-book their seats!  mad.gif

For pre-book seats they charge additional RM25 right?

Hehe I have to say the ad is damn cute biggrin.gif I never knew one could pay RM5 to pre-book seats, was only aware of the hot seat. When I came back from Vietnam on Tuesday, we managed to get the hot seats (row 2) without even paying for it, guess no one booked it so we were lucky to get it smile.gif

Btw off topic but they now serve fried eggs and hotdog for b'fast and you can buy krispy kreme donuts on board, lol.

I am just gonna book AA. I am going Langkawi with my friends. I initially wanted mas but my friends wanted aa because of the price. Regarding to the seats, how do you know if the seats were booked when you first enter the plane? Do we have to que in front of the gate fighting for the seats if we wanna sit together? Cases you guys mentioned here are like very serious huh? my first time with aa.

Added on September 24, 2009, 11:39 pmguys, I need help here.
Air Asia
I am going to Langkawi within these few weeks.I am aiming for a cheaper fare, but it says that the booking period end on the 27th of Sept while it does not mentioned Langkawi in the page. If I booked after 27th, will I get a cheaper fare?
If I book now, my fare will be RM111( RM57 + RM54) per person including tax excluding food, insurance seats and etc. I still find it expensive but could I get a better price from this?
*
Dude, to answer your first question, there are numbers assigned already (just like MAS) so there's no fighting needed. It was quite bad previously when they didn't assign seats, man - you could see the ugly side of Malaysians shoving and pushing.

Anyawys, if you ask me I think those prices are quite cheap already. The cheapest I've seen to Langkawi is RM80, which I did purchase. If you feel its a fare price (cheaper than MAS), then just get it la, coz the more you wait the price of the tickets will go up. It can go up to about RM300 or so to langkawi on AA.

Here's the questions to all:

How long are you prepared/willing  to book/buy the tickets before the travelling date?  3 months? 6 months?  Or >?

Is it worth to buy now and travel > 6 months later?
*
Ami, booking 3 months, 6 months and infact 1 year in advance is not an issue if you feel the price is good and affordable and if you know you can take leave during that period then just go for it.

Try to look out for their yearly free tickets and book, that promo by far is the cheapest and it doesn't get better than that!

I normally book 3 months in advance depending on the promo and I've also booked 2 weeks before depature date and yet the price is definitely cheaper than MAS.

I am taking flight from LCCT to Macau at 12:15P.M but i am located at johor bahru so i have to take flight from j.b to LCCT at 9:25A.M and arrive at 10:10A.M. I am wondering whether i can check in on time for my macau flight.

I m new to air asia flight and i m afraid of missing flight. Please advice. thank you.

Honestly that's a risk because AA might delay their flights from JB to LCCT. Why not just take a bus/flight and come down to KL a day earlier? You can check it in Tunes hotel just to be safe. Just my opinion tho.

AA Indonesia is horrid!! I was on the way back from Bali and the flights were not even full. As I was sitting at the back of the emergency seat, my husband and I wanted to move in front because everyone knows the emergency seat area usually has bigger leg room. So instead of just jumping in front, we politely asked the stewardess if we could and she crapped us and said it's the hot seat!! Like WTF! Said she'll help us move to the front later bla bla bla (Which she didnt btw)

Then out of the blue some russian couple just sat in those seats we wanted and she didn't even say a word to them!!!

Talk about double standards la.

Even before the flight took off, another white guy wanted to sit right in front (hot seat) and she actually let him go!! Service was bloody horrible, they kept talking and talking instead of serving food. And if you want to order certain items on the menu you'll have to wait 20 minutes before it arrives!!!

But the other white guy asked her if he could sit in front (first row) and she let him! I was wondering how come she didnt tell him it's the hot seat and that he has to pay for it etc. Really hate these double standards, like as if we're paying any less than these mat sallehs.

Wow, this is what I fear the most on times when there's a sale on AA and everyone rushes to book causing the system and payment to be slow. I think yours could be a one off thing coz previously, my payment methods used to go on time out a whole lot because of the congestion but it never got charged to the bill. But I hope they'll be able to resolve your issue soon!

Anyone experience with Credit Shell on AA can tell me how it works. I cancelled my flight to BKK and request for credit shell.  I'm supposed to be able to rebook within 3 months.  But I went into 'Manage booking', I can't see any credit there.  How to go about it??
*
Hiya, does that mean I can cancel my flight and rebook it later? Coz I can't go for my Sri Lanka trip so am thinking of asking them for credit instead so I can book for another destination later - how do I go about it? Thanks

Normally, you can't cancel or make changes with AA bookings unless they announce.  My case is because BKK got political chaos, that's why AA announces that passengers can change or apply for credit shell.
*
Oh no, in that case looks I got to manage bookings and change it to a different date. Not to mention surely must pay extra too sad.gif

I have seen Mat Salleh check-in the surfing board too..but diff pricing hor...Those are consider xtra long/large item...U can check the rate in AA website..No point calling them unless u willing to wait in quee for >1/2 or 1 hr!! or unl;ess you use their premium lien ctr which is not cheap!..

Otherwise use their chatline in the manage your booking section
*
Stimix - i used their premium line recently coz cannot tahan waiting for so long on their hotline. Even with premium line must wait 1-2 minutes before an agent picks up! Sigh - I think it's just a way of making more money but then again, at least I managed to settle my flight!
