not 20ft. infact u may end up 32ft of light... as u need to overlap each lap by at least 1" in order to get a nice effect. By leaving 6" gap in between will leave a dark spot and will be very ugly.

be it T5 or T8, is all depends on the manufacturer product. If they gave lousy ballast or component, then u will be facing shorter life span... if u got a good component product combination, it will last you long enugh to approx 15000 hours of operation...
