Hi all,

I just recently obtained a PS3 and am now looking to get it working online.
Looking for a proper modem + router + wireless unit which works well with the PS3.

Currently I'm eyeing the Linksys WAG54G2
Will it work flawlessly with the PS3?

Otherwise.. what other brand/model will?

thanks! smile.gif

before getting a brand new wireless router, plz do some research .... google 1st

that way u can make good decisions whether to buy or avoid certain models....

issues popping up like frequent dc, UPNP probs, firmware issues, etc...

i know u aldy aware of it

using wag54g2here for skrimisx. but im using normal ethernet as the distance between the two device is only 1m.

uptimes can reach months on my setup. it wont dc unless i did it intentionally (testing diff ip etc), or a few black-outs doh.gif.

for people who face frequent disconnections, it depends on their phoneline quality, dslam configuration, exchange configuration, or even the particular unit is faulty.

ive been using it for almost a year now

little update if anyone cares..

I bought a Belkin N1 router yesterday and got it to work with the PS3.

Router is in my room and the ps3 is in my living room.
According to the PS3, signal strength about 75% and the connection was stable.

Played SF4 and the game was smooth, provided that you play against someone with yellow or green connection.

Also downloaded a couple of HD videos and a game demo from PSN overnight.

What I did was change the channel, disable WAP key and set "Broadcast SSID" to Off

will my connection be totally undetectable when I off SSID broadcast?

if I use MAC filtering then I'd have to put in the MAC addresses for all the devices which I plan to connect with rite?

Hi guys,

as promised, here are the pics.. I wasn't sure of what to take, so I took a couple of shots of my current settings.

Again, my router is a Belkin N1 which is roughly 25ft away (in my room behind closed doors) from the PS3.

I've disabled the "SSID Broadcast" and not using any WPA Key. However, I'm using MAC address filtering. So that "unauthorized" devices won't be able to leech my connection.

So, when you setup the connection on the PS3, you'd have to type in your SSID manually because the PS3 won't be able to detect your router since you turned "SSID Broadcast" OFF. Bare in mind that the SSID is case sensitive. After that just follow the on-screen instructions.

That is basically much it.
