Creative Gigaworks S750 7.1 speaker surround system ........

Yes i know what your thinking ( da fuggin nub ).

What to do, i'm not a pro so i don't know what is a cheap and better alternative.

I've been asking around whether my speakers would work on this av receiver but nobody gave a damn except me so bleh -.-;

Anyway is the S750 speakers good enough or should i change the speakers ? ( my budget is rather low ... as in below 1k ..... ) icon_question.gif

Ps: i bought mine for Rm 1.8k notworthy.gif LEGEND RAWKS! I'm a regular there laugh.gif

I ask them doh.gif already.

Actually the technician is coming over on Saturday to setup for me ( since im a nub... )

Asking for Yamaha speaker pricing doh.gif

I also intend to start of with 2 front left and right speakers eventually.

The problem is, i don't know much about speakers. Like what is good, or not biggrin.gif

My budget is 1000 :/

I was looking at the HTIB speakers which are thin champagne flutes ( think it was a LG ) that look fashionable and nice, although i don't know if these sort of speakers are worth their weight in gold o_O;

Is Legend the best place to go for speakers ? Maybe i can go window shopping first to see.

My ultimate goal is to achieve 5.1 surround sound.

Using the S750 on my pc with Auzentech Prelude sound card, i did not see much of a difference between 5.1 and 7.1 This may also be because there are rarely if any 7.1 surround sound audio material out there to begin with.

And from what Steve at Legend told me, this receiver doesn't matrix/upsample 5.1 sources to 7.1 anyway.

5.1 is good enough for me biggrin.gif But need to start of with 2 speaker first cause expensive to buy 1 shot cry.gif

Added on May 8, 2008, 1:17 pmThis is a good guide i found

http://www.audioholics.com/buying-guides/s...e-bones-system/

However i need to one that is Rm 1000 below budget to get 2.1 stereo first, and maybe 5.1 eventually :]

I’d like to draw your attention to the construction of the tweeter. It is the first time Creative uses a high-frequency speaker of the dome type with a titanium membrane in its satellites. Titanium adds rigidity to the membrane, allowing to fully embrace the range of high frequencies and the ultrasound range. That’s why the manufacturer proudly wrote down the audiophile range of 25Hz-40kHz in the specification.

QUOTE
I think the SR-4002 is likely a very good receiver, and should do just about anything audiowise you would need it too. The RX-V663 doesn't have a huge advantage with video or audio processing as I would only use the decoding inside a Blu-ray player to get my HD audio anyway (the Blu-ray secondary audio tracks only work when the Blu-ray player handles the decoding). The audio sent from the Blu-ray player is pure uncompressed multichannel PCM, meaning there is no loss of sound quality, in fact it should sound exactly the same as having the receiver decode from the HD audio bitstream (Dolby True HD, DTS-HD, Dolby Digital Plus).

The Onkyo should be dropped from the running period, it's l ikely under the power bracket of the Marantz and Yamaha receivers, has heat issues, has reported popping issues, and a few other beefs such as quality audio production (which may or may not be a real problem and it could just be in people's heads).

All that said, the Yamaha has a slight advantage in features over the Marantz. Those features may never be used though (such as HDMI 1.3 features). Neither receiver has a phono input, so an external phono preamp (which is generally prefered) would be needed for LP playback. Both receivers have preouts for all channels, so using the Marantz or Yamaha as a preamp with power amplifiers is an option. This is not so with the Onkyo.

I already have a PS3 so i knew it played the DTS, HD DTS and MA DTS, however i wasn't sure that you can hook up external speakers without an AV Receiver which was why i bought the 663.

So if you have a PS3 is it worth getting an AV receiver or is it not needed ? The video features aren't really needed by me as i have a popcorn media streamer that will play the videos for me. So the popcorn would pass through the audio to the AV Receiver to get DTS. Hopefully in future they will release a popcorn 2 that can pass through HD DTS and MA DTS.
