663 where got upscaling? only up-conversion Added on April 27, 2008, 9:47 amQUOTE(kancheong @ Apr 25 2008, 03:50 PM) the specs say s-video, component, hdmi so i m not sure if it really does it for all 3. so i connect to 663 via the component, upscale via hdmi to lcd. yes that is correct but its not call upscaling which is another thing altogether. its call upconversion upscaling means changing for eg. 480 to 720/1080 This post has been edited by DigitalKL: Apr 27 2008, 08:06 PM

QUOTE(mpyw @ Apr 30 2008, 10:38 PM) The Yamaha receiver that do upscale:- RX-V661/663 - upconversion to component only RX-V861 - up-scale all analog to max 1080i RX-V863 - up-scale all analog to max 1080p RX-V1700 - up-scale all analog to max 1080i RX-V1800/V3800/Z-11 - up-scale all analog to max 1080p I think u can get V1700 for ard 2.5k now RX-V663 provides analogue video to HDMI digital upconversion (composite video <-> S-Video <-> component video -> HDMI)

QUOTE(Audio Nirvana @ May 9 2008, 05:13 PM) I think RM3.6k is speakers only. For that price or a little more, can get brands like Mission, Monitor Audio, etc... ya monitor audio BR series around 3.5k only

here is the link but there is one more somewhere - http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/receivers...v-receiver.htmltrue, not many movies support 7 channels but if we bought a 7 channel AVR at a certain watt price range, then it better give out that much. just my 2 cent. sorry ya....

if its not an issue then better get 663. no point going for 1800 or higher since you wont need all those wattage
