if 863 is 3k then might as well buy rxv1800 at rm3600....
for me the only difference among them is the power. of course extra features (which either got use or not only). how to consider mid range, high range and low range? to me there is only 2 levels - either top end like Z11 or the rest like 663, 863, 1800, 3800
what audio processor is 663 vs 863 vs 1800 vs 3800 using?

anyone knows what 663 vs 1800 is using for DAC?
at yamaha website it says -
rxv1800 = Burr-Brown 192 kHz/24-bit DACs for front channels and 192 kHz/24-bit ADC for Main Zone rxv663/863 = Burr-Brown 192kHz/24-bit DACs used in all channels
so what does that means har?

i think the rx-v1800 is out for me too
Output at clipping (1 kHz into 8/4 ohms) 1 channel driven: 158/281 W (22/24.5 dBW)* 5 channels driven (8 ohms): 103 W (20.1 dBW) 7 channels driven (8 ohms): 55 W (17.4 dBW) Distortion at 1 watt (THD+N, 1 kHz) 8/4 ohms: 0.02/0.03% Noise level (A-wtd): -73.4 dB Excess noise (with sine tone) 16-bit (EN16): 0.9 dB Frequency response: 20 Hz to 20 kHz +0, -0.2 dB

QUOTE(sham73 @ Apr 17 2008, 05:19 PM) 1800 and 3800 is almost the same spec. anyway i think sunauto makes a good point - the Burr Brown DAC use in the yamahas are ....lower end than lets say Onkyos here - The PCM1792 chip is preferrable because it has a dynamic range of 132dB. The PCM1796 has a dynamic range of 123 dB. The PCM1791A has a dynamic range of only 113 dB.
Denon 4308CI and Yammy RX-V3800 have the PCM1791A. Onkyo 805/875/905 have the PCM1796. Yamaha RX-Z11 has the DSD1792.and i dun understand what this means = rxv1800 = Burr-Brown 192 kHz/24-bit DACs for front channels and 192 kHz/24-bit ADC for Main Zone rxv663/863 = Burr-Brown 192kHz/24-bit DACs used in all channels so what is 1800 using for the other channels? 663 is even better?
