I would like to know what moments bring a tear to your eye know matter how many times you watch it. Whether it's an amazing achievement of a national team, a club team, a player; what is it that makes you wanna reach for the tissues. It is not necessary to be a team you support, just an amazing achievement by something, or someone. When i say brings a tear to your eye, it doesn't have to literally, but i'm sure you know the feeling i mean.

These are mines

England 4-1 Holland in euro96 recording 1st ever big win against major opposition
England worst start of euro2000 losing 2-3 twice & out of 1st round with only win against old foe germany that surprisingly lose so bad who only drew against romania
Man Utd treble years in 1999
Man Utd snatching the CL trophy from bayern in the final 3 minutes of injury time
Man Utd knocking arsenal out of the FA cup semi replay in style with cunted solo run goal by giggsy
Man Utd hitting 6 past hapless arsenal recording the 1st ever biggest win against rival league team
Man Utd hitting 5 past spurs keeper in 2nd half after down 3 goals at half time recording the best ever comeback win away from home
Germany 1-5 England in WC 2002 quali & 1st ever biggest win against major opposition away from home
England late loss vs france in injury time in euro04
Rooney debut hat trick in champs league as the youngest & only player 2 do so
Rooney 1st BPL hat trick vs tough ass bolton @ reebok
Man Utd late goal vs liverpool in front of kop end during BPL last season
England 2-3 Croatia in the last euro08 quali causing upset bye bye 2 euro08 n the 1st time england fail 2 qualify in a major tournament
Ronaldo 1st BPL hat trick vs resilient but crumble newcastle + Man Utd hitting 6 past hapless given in 2nd half after drawing 0-0 at first half

4 not my team

liverpool comeback draw after down 3 goals in the 1st half in CL final win by PKS laugh.gif rclxms.gif
liverpool comeback draw with gerrard super goal equalizer after being behind 3 times in FA cup final same win by PKS laugh.gif rclxms.gif

whats yours? brows.gif cool2.gif

The latest one would be the minute of silence Munich tribute match.
There's a whole load more, but being non-football result related, it'll bore you guys to death!

Us beating Madrid 4-3 at Old Trafford but still being knocked out. Beckham's contributions brought tears to my eyes.

Van Nistelrooy missing the penalty in injury time. Triple whammy because of pizzagate, losing a ton of money from betting and not getting three points.

Scholes and Keane being asked to lift the trophy in the final on the field despite not playing in the final.

Pavel Nedved suspended for the Champions League final - I felt for him.

Will probably add Brazil beating England and David Seaman balling his eyes out.

Oh yes.. During injury time after 90 minutes... It is either a win or lose situation.. My big hero made the fantastic save.. and the treble dream continues on.

Bring tears is a statement which means that it is very sad to me. Sad moments for me is always the Munich tragedy. That is when I know why I love Manchester United. Not because of the victories and successes that are temporary.

Like madmoz, it was the Munich tribute. Didn't actually criy but felt very overwhelmed. It wasn't the minute silence though. It was when the players walked out and the guy playing the bagpipe came ouit with them, playing The Red Flag on his bagpipe. The fans singing We'll Never Die along with his bagpipe playing. That moment really got me.

bet england to qualify for the Euro 2004, and then it brings tears to my eyes.... lol, just a joke

but for me, nothing beats the surge of feelings when gerrard scored against olympiakos to qualify for the UCL knockouts.
oh yea, the winning the UCL was also a hard to forget experience. I was on the verge of giving up the game after half time and the boys surprised me with the 3-3 draw, and then the ever-unsettling spot kicks which eventually won the cup for us.

Most recent would be the Munich tribute in Old Trafford. The fact that all the fans behaved and honored the lost lives plus the fans hoisting up the red and white banners towards the end of the game despite a poor performance from the team on the pitch. People feared that the tribute would have been disrupted and in shambles but the people united for a common cause proved them wrong.

Istanbul for me, FA Cup 2006 was great but not til the extend of bringing tears to my eyes.

Qualified thru Gerrard's goal, beat Juventus 2-1 with Luis superb goal, Luis 'invisible goal' against Chelsea and the final.

Still bring tears to my eyes when i watch the vcd over and over again nod.gif

1) Hillsborough. Although I never knew the victims personally, it was an overwhelming experience to stand in front of the memorial and see those 96 names.
2) Istanbul, especially the rendition of "You'll Never Walk Alone" at half time. Watched "One Night in May" again.
3) Titi Camara playing, scoring and then dropping to his knees in tears at the Anfield Road End, on the very same morning his father passed away. There's commitment for you
4) The return of God to Anfield
5) Gerrard's awesome goal against Olympiacos to send us through to the knockout stages of the Champions League
6) Beating Chelsea in the semi-finals of the 2005 Champions League, putting us through to the final at Istanbul. The celebrations after the match were amazing as the Kop burst into song. Mourinho still hasn't forgiven us for that tongue.gif
7) Reading stories of Shankly and how he touched the hearts of Liverpool fans
8) When we were on tour in Thailand and greeted by fanatical support, Jamie Redknapp who was then captain whispered to one of the foreign lads, "now you know what it means to play for Liverpool FC".
9) When Robbie Fowler visited Thailand with the team, he was appointed an ex-military captain as a body guard. The bodyguard (can't remember his name) told Robbie that he'd visit Liverpool one day. 2 years later, he saved up enough money and went to Melwood to see the team train. After training he called out to Robbie who recognised him and even remembered his name. Robbie took him out to dinner with the lads and paid for everything during his duration of stay. The fans will always be remembered.

I'm a soppy sap.

On a happier note, watchin replays of Southampton beating Man U in 96, especially this goal brings a tear to the eye...how did we fall from winning Man U in the EPL to scraping draws in the CCC cry.gif cry.gif

Dukey,

And these are probably the same bunch who crucify their actual national team players.

Its the same reason why i don't fancy international matches as much as i do for club matches involving Arsenal. I mean i don't mind watching World Cup/Euro Cup and so on but i don't get the same excitement as watching club games.

Wasn't referring to any one poster in particular. It's just I for one am not emotionally tied to any other nation, not enough to cry tears of joy or victory for them anyway. I'm asking because I want to understand the psyche of those that are, emotionally involved with another nation I mean. I can however see myself being sad or happy for them but then again, there are many more things to be sad or happy about, things that don't directly concern me I mean. I don't gamble on games but I do understand the pains of having to part with your money. God knows I parted with a fair bit of mine over the CNY period smile.gif

Well if Malaysia were playing in the same level as Brazil/Holland/Italy/France and they lost an important finals game, i do think i might shed a few tears of sadness or if they were to win World Cup one day, i might shed tears of joy. And thats simply because its my nation and i'm patriotic. Other than that, no real reason to feel sad or extra happy when other nations win/lose.

But generally i still do see some patriotism when Malaysia plays in any football/futsal game. The most recent futsal game in Stadium Negara proves so as we were cheering quite madly when Malaysia beat England. Even a few years back when Man Utd visited us and played a game with us and though majority of the crowd are Man Utd fans, we still cheered like mad when we had few chances to score. I've also watched the Brazil game and i must say the crowd was going crazy each time we stopped Brazil from scoring, so i wouldn't say we're not patriotic enough.

only one team in EPL (at that time, First Division) had this distinction of having the title grabbed from their very hands at virtually the last kick of the season...

Liverpool vs Arsenal, Anfield, somewhere late 80's early 90's i think.......

losing 1-0...we just need to avoid losing 2-0 AT HOME and the title is home safe and dry..
and then...one... last attack by Arsenal, they scored....
the commentator, legendary late Brian Moore famously said this when the ball was loose in front of the Anfield goal and Michael Thomas was seen running to hit it `ITS UP FOR GRABS NOW'!

darn....for 1 whole week, no mood to go to school, talk to girls, do anything.....

Just found this thread, agreed with largely of both of my fellow red...

QUOTE(Duke Red @ Feb 14 2008, 11:37 AM)
1) Hillsborough. Although I never knew the victims personally, it was an overwhelming experience to stand in front of the memorial and see those 96 names.
2) Istanbul, especially the rendition of "You'll Never Walk Alone" at half time. Watched "One Night in May" again.
3) Titi Camara playing, scoring and then dropping to his knees in tears at the Anfield Road End, on the very same morning his father passed away. There's commitment for you
4) The return of God to Anfield
7) Reading stories of Shankly and how he touched the hearts of Liverpool fans

For me, it has to be Hillsborough, like JonC said many a times, you don't go to a football match and come back in a body bag... Especially after hearing the stories of someone who WAS at Hillsborough... cry.gif cry.gif

Istanbul for sure, still cannot finished the DVD, watched it half way each and every time and started balling me eyes out... I am more soppy than Duke...

1999, I was playing in goal for my Kamsis Ibrahim Yaacob in UKM in our SUKEM (Sukan UKM). Semi finals, we were up against the favorites. We were down one pretty early in the game, then we had to defend against their siege for much of the game. My team defended heroically, I had to make like, a save every 2 minutes or so. Then with 5 mins left, we equalized. During the extra time we had to defend like mad again. Then in the penalty shoot out, I saved one shot & we won the game & moved on to the finals. It was our first final in quite some time & during the group stages nobody gave us a second glance. It was very emotional for me. To contribute in such a way.

BTW, we lost the final 0-3. Not much can be done. Only satisfaction to be had.... rclxms.gif

Brazil losing 2-3 to italy at 1982 quarter-final , heart breaking and still feel it now . that brazilian team is probably the most entertaining and playing the most beautiful football i've ever known

other than that , man utd winning the winning the treble in 1999 and the penalties at this year champions league against chelsea final really make my blood pressure running high and low in split seconds

why do man utd always have to leave it so late to win

I would like to know what moments bring a tear to your eye know matter how many times you watch it. Whether it's an amazing achievement of a national team, a club team, a player; what is it that makes you wanna reach for the tissues. It is not necessary to be a team you support, just an amazing achievement by something, or someone. When i say brings a tear to your eye, it doesn't have to literally, but i'm sure you know the feeling i mean.

Although there were many tragic and memorable moments throughout my 16 years as a United fan, one moment stands tall and really made me sad and cry.

10th February 2008. Man United vs Man City. 50th years after the Munich Tragedy.

It was a very very touching moment to see both sets of fans holding their banners during the 1 minute silence.

The reason why I decided to follow this club was when I read about this sad history and how the players and Sir Matt rose up 10 years after the tragedy to win that big fat pot.

I've just finish reading Sir Bobby Charlton's Biography and it was very touching to read from one of the survivors who was in the plane that crashed 50 years ago on the whole story of the tragedy. How it made him changed and caused his estranged relationship with his mother and his older brother Jack Charlton (he said the tragedy made Sir Bobby a changed man..). So it was a very sad tragedy and seeing the tribute really touched me. And how badly it effected the United players when they lost focus a bit and lost to City (amazing.. first time after almost how many years since the lost to City at Old Trafford).

Put a tear in my eye as well. Seeing the scarfs and banners set up by both sets of fans. Despite our very well-known and intense rivalry we managed to overlook our differences and come together to honor those who tragically died in the Munich air crash. There was only one victor that night, and that was UNITY. Add to that our Champions League win, which commemorated with the 50th year after the tragedy. I swear to God I saw Duncan Edwards and co. there giving Terry a shrug when he was taking his penalty.

When did Ole get sent off against Arsenal? He was never sent off against Arsenal because in his career, he only had 1 red card (believe it or not).

And he was sent off because he wanted to sacrifice himself for the club. He was sent off against Newcastle United at Old Trafford in the 1997/1998 season because he brought down Rob Lee (who was the last man) from scoring when Rob Lee was one by one with Rai Van Der Gouw. He sacrified himself in that game so that Newcastle didn't score (after 1-1) and keep the hope of winning the league up (although Arsenal did win it that season).

In my 1st year playing football we joined some sort of tournament, we drew 1 - 1 in the 1st round and had to let penalties decide the match. I nearly cried when our goalkeeper saved the last penalty. I actually held his head and yelled at him " YES!!! YOU SON OF A B***H!!! YES!!!!" We reached the finals before getting whipped 5 - 0.

TRUE STORY.

2007/2008 Man Utd vs Chelsea at Champions League Final, when Ronaldo missed his penalty, i was so devastated. Then upstep Terry who missed it, i tried to hold my tears as it was not won yet. Then seeing VDS save Anelka's effort, it just flowed out along with my 2 other Man Utd supporter friends. We were hugging each other as tears flow and jumped for joy. I was slightly young when Man Utd won the treble so this is the first i experienced it. Till now i get goosebump when watch the clip again.
