Well reveur, I'm no expert, but basically how much you get taxed will depend on how much you earn minus whatever you can deduct or claim.

So if you earn RM 10k and above your bracket will be much higher than if you earn RM 3k and above - and then there are the various ways of reducing your taxable amount. My advice if you've not used Efiling is to just photocopy the BE form and practice filling it in. The method will become clear soon enough.

Eh? So the taxes are incured after you minus Socso, EPF from your total salary monthly or yearly?

QUOTE(andy_lhc @ Mar 4 2008, 01:09 PM)
@rev - if u r single, u can
a)Deduct RM8k for personal usage
b)EPF/Life insurance maximum RM6k
c)Books - RM1k
d)Health/Education insurance - RM3k
e)Computer - RM3k (every 3years)

tats about it for us singles....sweat.gif
then ur annual income minus all above and the balance will be taxable....
*
Whats the minimum amount to get taxed? Meaning, how much we need to earn to get taxed?

Basically once you start earning more than RM 2500 you kena already. And yes, the taxable amount is AFTER you minused all the above.

I thought the taxable bracket is based on the salary without all the minus? tongue.gif

Which is how people arrive at RM2,500 and above as the taxable amount. They dont care how much they minus from EPF and Socso! tongue.gif

i really wish there is a course for the public on taxes. Maybe the bosses can help us on that.

Aiyish, remember to keep receipts. Most important are Book receipts (newspapers also can), medical receipts, and computer receipts. Those reliefs help us pay lesser taxes.
