QUOTE(Kyoyagami @ Mar 4 2008, 10:22 AM) usd 109.90 ? ... bout tax ~ if monthly yr company did some deduction on yr salary for tax then i guess its no pain else to sum the total of the year and declare ... then this reminds me on the weekend have search out the receipts for books , medications n etc to lighten the burden for tax. @zio if only toybox can also be named as 'book box' then i may purchase those EOJ cards and claim for tax deduction. |

Government can't really force private sector to increase salaries. But civil servants had that opportunity last year, after such a long time of increment.
@Andy - I remember zakat taking only 2.5% of income. But still, if there's still balance on the taxes, time to get reliefs on those taxes then. Book receipts FTW!!! Also, if u guys bought newspapers, that can also be considered as books from what i remember in my studies. |

On the topic of taxes, Can someone enlighten me on how it works? EG how much is the salary to be charged tax. How do we get tax to be reduced eg book receipt like those u guys mentioned and the general things?

Well reveur, I'm no expert, but basically how much you get taxed will depend on how much you earn minus whatever you can deduct or claim.
So if you earn RM 10k and above your bracket will be much higher than if you earn RM 3k and above - and then there are the various ways of reducing your taxable amount. My advice if you've not used Efiling is to just photocopy the BE form and practice filling it in. The method will become clear soon enough. |

@rev - if u r single, u can
a)Deduct RM8k for personal usage b)EPF/Life insurance maximum RM6k c)Books - RM1k d)Health/Education insurance - RM3k e)Computer - RM3k (every 3years) tats about it for us singles.... then ur annual income minus all above and the balance will be taxable.... |
