depends on which system u're in. if u're in british system (which malaysia uses as well), the degree title will indicate if it is an honours degree or just a normal degree. if it is an honours degree, u just need to maintain a cgpa above 2.00 (atleast C in all subjects).

if u're in the australian system, well, i'll let somebody else explain it bcoz it's [insert swear word of choice here] confusing biggrin.gif.

From my experience doing the Australian Honours System:

3 year degree courses
+ You do 3 years of basic Bachelor's degree.
+ Upon graduation, if your final year grade average is a D and above, you are eligible to enrol in an Honours year (which is a separate course with a separate course code even). (You have to self-enrol, it is not automatic enrollment)
+ Honours involves usually 50% dissertation and 50% coursework.
+ You submit your Honours dissertation, and the marks are tabulated and your final grade is ranked by First Class, Second Upper/Lower etc as per usual Honours grading.

4 year or more degree courses
+ The final year usually involves a research component which will be graded towards your Honours grade.
+ Entry into Honours is automatic.

I heard 1st class honour student usually get book before coming out.
I think very less people get 3rd class honour.

depends on the course. look at the course u're applying, it'll state clearly if it is an honours course or not. for example, the course i'm teaching will award a degree of:

Bachelor of Architecture (Hons) Universiti Teknologi Malaysia

(5 years)

yeah.. that is why many ppl will say, make sure your FYP is working. And even is your project is not working, you need to explain why it's not working and convince your supervisor that is not your fault, you have done what you can and it's out of your ability. But of coz you need to try before say that.

want to ask whether 3rd class degree can find jobs or work not ? allright, here is my situation...Let's say i failed during my final sem....Giving options of either repeating the whole subjects or just graduate, attend convo with 3rd class...THe problem here is i already work, kinda no mood go back to study and attend class all over again...The company that hired me now is the company that i did my internships....

So, want to ask is Degree with (honours) important ??? In term of job hopping, switching job next time and promotion ?
