ok this is my review of the X-tatic Digital surround headphone. pics at the bottom.
So far, been using it mostly for PS3, but tried a few movies with it. The surround effect is nice, tried Pacific with the gun battles and it was quite real. plus you could hear a lot of faint shelling, shouts, shots that you cant normally hear.
for ps3, so far I tried Yakuza 3 and BF2. BF2 was nice as you could hear ppl walking, vehicles moving etc. Makes its easier to play stealth if that's your cup of tea.
Sound wise, the bass is actually not too bad. Not deep like what you get on an actual home theater, but pretty decent considering its size.
The headphones are pretty comfy, the cups and headband have the soft synthetic feel, and after 5-6 hours of playing, my ears and head didn't hurt nor sweat. this was in a non aircon'd room, just with a fan. The cable is pretty long, and there's a volume control just a couple of inches below the headset. controls volume, and lets you individually adjust the front, center, rear and bass. so you can customise the sound to how u want it. a pretty cool feature to suit the movie/game you play.
i got it for SGD239 from SG, there's a dealer on the website.
if you're looking for an above average surround headset, comfortable with options to customise your sound, then i wouldn't mind recommending this one.
I have my HDMI passing thru my amp...would hooking up to optical input upset the audio output to the headset and amp?So far, been using it mostly for PS3, but tried a few movies with it.
