Mission is more famous for speaker while Yamaha is more famous for amp. I have not listen to a Yamaha speaker before therefore can't comment much. As for Mission M33i , I think it's a very good value for money speaker. Of course there are other better speaker (eg AE Neo or Monitor Audio Bronze) but the price is much more expensive. Same goes to the sub. The SW150 is good value for money but if you can afford it go for the Velodyne CHT10 or 12 (more than RM2k).

Then what about theMA Bronze BRAV 5.1 Pack ? ![]() Not sure about price wise, but someone said the MA BR2 speakers are good, also not sure if they meant the other speakers in the BRAV set including sub woofer would be a good choice ... What do you think ? Price performance comparison. The compact BR2AV system marries the - BR2 speakers - BR-LCR - BR-FX surround speakers - BRW-10 active subwoofer Aesthetics: 10/10 Performance: Not sure Price: Not sure Where to buy: Not sure This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: May 11 2008, 08:14 AM |

I just set up my 5.1 HT with the following components:
Amp: Onkyo TX-SR705 Front: Mission M32i Centre: Mission M3c2i Rear: Mission 760i (>10 year old pair but still sound great!) Subwoofer: Wharfdale WH210 (great value for branded 10" subs) I don't recommend Yamaha speakers...they are know for excellent amps but not for their speakers. I tested a top of the range Yamaha 5.1 set (>RM15,000) and I must say it sounded mediocre. My whole system cost me less than RM6k and I am very happy with it for its value. CMY ? is that the full name of the shop
Horray about the sub woofer, i heard that Wharfdale don't know how to make a decent sub woofer. Is that true ? Ps: what did you get for surround ? |

For a little bit more than the Mission M3i series, I would go for the Monitor Audio BR series. Quality of the cabinet/drivers and the sound are clearly better. You can check them out in CJ Audio in The Mall. BR2 is about RM1100+ and the center speaker about the same price.

QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ May 11 2008, 02:52 PM) CMY ? is that the full name of the shop Yes, CMY. They're also located at LG Sg Wang Plaza & 1 Utama (old wing).Horray about the sub woofer, i heard that Wharfdale don't know how to make a decent sub woofer. Is that true ? Ps: what did you get for surround ? Wharfedale, not decent? I guess it is a matter of preference as well as budget. For RM700, it is definitely good enough for me. My surrounds are my old Mission speakers 760i. Good enough to start off...slowly upgrade in future. I don't have a bottomless pocket full of money! Added on May 11, 2008, 5:13 pm QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ May 11 2008, 04:01 PM) But i thought horray said that the BR2 5.1 set is like 5-6k + which is way above a budget system Did I say that?Hm i will pop into that shop and look. You should try the surrounds using the Mission centre piece...it sounds really good and cost only RM700 (RM350 each @ 50% off). I didn't do so because I still have my old Missions which works well. No reason to upgrade.

I was quoted RM2.4k for the Bronze 4 only. If include the center and surround it will be around RM5k. Bronze 4 is not the latest model. The latest model is BR5 which is around RM3.5k.
