Not always the case.............English is only common in tourist areas. If you end up going to neighbourhoods in Kowloon ie Jordan, Mongkok and further up north, you can't just rely on English. So getting around would be a problem off the island. I have an angmoh girl friend who lives in Stanley, speaks no Cantonese, never left the island.

HKUST has a focus on science and technology. It gives the impression that it is better.
