@kick-a-poo,
If ur travelling a lot, go for the MB - i know a lot of Creative Directors who uses an MB instead of an MBP as they prefer some more light weight.

However, if u prefer a 15.4" screen to work with, the MBP is the one to go for. I also been told the MB is quite heavy for a 13.3" - at about 2.1kg or so, so it's really a 'lil' heavier that's all - but trust me.. ur going to feel the difference smile.gif

@damagedigital,
Sometimes it's not the budget, it's the need.

I have to agree with tinkerbel. I unfortunately have to carry two laptops with me when I travel and every extra bit of weight saved makes a huge difference.

If you really have the budget, get an iMac and a Macbook. You'll get the extra portability and the power/storage/screen real estate when you need it. I have a similar setup at home and don't regret it biggrin.gif

...budget is enuf for mbp...hehe...hmm...2.1kg vs 2.5kg...not much diff for weight...so to say...still confuse thou...since mb has intel gc and mbp has its nvidia, some say mb is quite enuf to handle 3d works...guess i need the opinion of some mbp users...rite now its 55%-mbp and 45%mb...

@tishaban: two lappys!! wow...that's just...wow...

tumpang ur thread for a while ya TS..

was wondering would it be better for me to go for an Imac or MBP..?ive been in a great dilemma of late and im pretty confused on which one to have..I only travel wen i go back to my hometown in kk(currently resides in Mlk) and although i fancy the MBP more as i can carry it wit me more but i have a more resounding urge on big screen comp!!

I dun really need those graphically high end mumbo jumbo as im more of a normal user to begin with..thanx in advance guys..

If you want more choice, why don't you go hunting on the PC side of the track?

well... since u dy know what u want, why don just go for mbp? however, if u only use the laptop to give presentation and u work in somewhere else, u can always think to get an normal macbook + Imac...

@kick-a-poo,
Thankfully I don't carry 2 laptops with me - I have the MBP and carry it with me most of the time; am getting pretty much fed up with its weight; bought a backpack to help with the backaches *grins* and i seriously think twice before taking it anywhere with me; it's not what i'll consider portable but i wanted a 15.4" screen so it wasn't a big battle between the MBP and the MB

If U think the MB is sufficient for ur usage, then go with it - save the $ and get AppleCare or a boost in RAM smile.gif

@Reimao,
If u can't stand not having ur iMac with u when u return to KK for holidays, get an iMac. If u travel constantly and need to have ur laptop with u at all times then get one that's portable.

Which modelling program are you using? Is it CPU intensive or GPU intensive?

I will go for MacBook Pro regardless of the weight. The fact that is the performance is the priority. About weight problems, get a bag pack.
