How much different will it make if I want to buy a pretty high end laptop early next year (2009) or the year after (2010)?

I'm an architecture student and my budget will be around 8k.

Early next year? depends where are you using, with that kind of budget? well, you can have some Precision range, and get some docking accessories biggrin.gif

by the way, if you want to get high end laptop for study uses, depends, well, you can opt for some Toughbook range,

what is your current laptop limiting you, for 1st time laptop buyer ...., pretty high end stuff should comes with pretty long term sold warranty biggrin.gif

I don't see how this is deterrent to people not buying dells.

The dead pixel thing...well, you've gotta know your way around, which I'd bet you didn't. Since dell has this 14-day satisfaction warranty, you could have threaten to return the thing and they'd probably change it for you. If they still refuse, just return it and rugi the delivery fee ~ rm60 and then get another laptop that is non-dell if you prefer.

The service center thing? Obviously you are not aware of the Dell NBD service, where they send people to your home to fix it for you. I'd think there's no need for them to set up service center around Malaysia to fix laptops that way.

5 minutes and you already screaming? I used to called Astro and waited for 20minutes just to change package. Seriously though, 5 minutes isn't much. It's unfortunate that your laptop broke down 1 week after the warranty period, and you'd have to pay a rather high price to get it fixed which would make you fume again.

Mind sharing what problem is your laptop facing?

Nice advice, so when it is sort of DOA, let's return it, biggrin.gif

If they dont want to change for you, then, thats your fault, you dont know how to complain.Sorry to say this.

Dell even changed my friend's 2 year old Inspiron's monitor when there is small scratch on his monitor.Just say things like those 2 dead pixels is obstructing my view.Very hard to do design on it etc.

5 minutes you complain adi? doh.gif  shakehead.gif I waited for more than 40 minutes just to get the operator.Thats in Aus some more.I spend $50 of credits to get them to fix my HDD.

Dead pixel also complain. doh.gif I have changed 1 mobo,2 HDD,1 heat sink and lots of plastics.
