Hi, anyone from UTM's architecture. I wonder the part time architecture course under SPACE is equivalent to LAM part 1 or not ?

Today is the happiest day of the year for me... My application of change of course to architecture was approved by the Head of Architecture department. I thought I would have been rejected because my first semester result was really bad... thanks god! My best Christmas present ever... Any architecture book recommended? Mr. Aza, what is the title of the architecture dictionary you've mentioned before? Btw, I was told that I would not join the design studio in next semester but next academic year.

here is my question:
Why do we need to study architecture history?
Ya, I know the architecture history ties with the world evolution, and we can learn from history to avoid the mistakes...
but how does it help us to develop our own style of design?? I'm quite new to architecture, hope u guys can give me some guidelines..
thanks

kantoi-ed... a lecturer indeed... let me try and ask in another way: As a lecturer, what will u expect in the essay of ur students, especially those "uninitiated" and new to architecture. How do we know that how the architecture history benefit us in the architecture perspective, if I haven't go through those process in the first place. Learn from history, avoid mistake, study the past to understand the present and guide the future... those are general knowledge of important of history... thanks..
