well, we do ask some general knowledge or current issues, but only to warm up. whatever u answer wont affect the outcome of the interview, but how u answer it might. some people have a wealth of general knowledge that the interviewers would be astounded. ...
Is this true for the USM interview? the answers wont affect the outcome? Cos I answered a question wrongly. I wont tell you what question it is because i'm too embarassed that i got it half wrong (it was a slip of the tongue/lapse in concentration... REALLY!) blush.gif blush.gif

Hint: the answer involves the name of one of the "big" people in our country... hehe

Basically everything you gonna need can be bought there. But if you have already had geometrical tools, watercolour and colour pencils (serious!), do bring along. Don't forget your brushes and pencils too. Other archi tools can be bought there. You'll be told what to buy and where to get when starting your studio classes.

I see... books etc all buy there la ... good rclxms.gif

Umm , I know this is kinda early to ask about the LAM part 1 n 2 exams, but from your diagram, issit UM,USM,UIAM do not need the LAM part 1 exam whereas UTM does not need LAM part 1/part 2 exams?

PS: I scared of exams hahaz.. ever since spm

UM, USM, UIAM, UiTM and UTM degrees will allow u to skip the part 1 exam.

UM, USM, UiTM second degrees and UTM degree will allow u to skip the part 2 exam.

first, there is no textbooks in architecture. u are strongly urged NOT to rely in only one or two similar books. architecture is so subjective due to its over reliance to perceptual opinions. for example, if u're looking into the subject of human settlements, there are atleast 4 very different school of thoughts that may contradict each other. so how would u differentiate?

any book can be a good book. it's just a matter how good it can be to u.

take for example in environmental sciences, most might believe that ken yeang's bioclimatic ideas would be the leading or prominent ideology. but a colleague of mine, incharge of the environmental research group in UTM, have published evidence that his ideas doesnt always work as he claims to be. ofcourse, he doesnt offer any alternatives yet, but we can already see what went wrong in the bioclimatic idea.

which should u follow? the already debunked bioclimatic ideas, or the new research that have yet to produce anything fresh? biggrin.gif
MQA is the rebranded LAN. so if a course is accredited by LAN, it is accredited by MQA. MQA covers diplomas, degrees, masters and certificates as well.
Thanks for the reply! So, are there any books that you recommend i read ? What should a first year archi student start with? thanks...
