QUOTE(StarGhazzer @ Apr 12 2008, 10:00 PM) is it? Haven't been to Newmarket or probably I don't even know that I've already been in Newmarket or not... QUOTE No,civil engineering. It's getting tough and stressful. Is it your final year already mate? Must be really tough then. I'm already preparing for my thesis and it's like woah....tonnes and tonnes of reading and writing... QUOTE yesterday was cold at perth!!! smoke started coming out when talking at night(fun)... I've experienced one cold time at Perth during the time of winter during transit at Perth airport. It was really cold until I'm arrived at Victoria after that straight to Geelong and I think it must be really lucky to be in Perth because it is way more colder.... |

QUOTE(StarGhazzer @ Apr 15 2008, 10:17 AM) Learning the local slang helps to strike a conversation with the locals, and using their expressions and greeting is a nice way to start. And to be honest one doesn't have to deliberately learn the slangs and accents; it just comes along naturally. I've met people last year who thought I've been in Melbourne for 3, 4 years when I've only arrived 6 months. yes, that's right mate? Way to go. Totally agree with you... Yeah... apart from "How's it going mate?", the F-word gets used so often that it doesn't sound vulgar anymore But when I speak to fellow Malaysians, Manglish and rojak reappears like second nature... plus all the -lah, -mah, -leh, and mix of malay words with dialect phrases too. And too bad I don't get to use Mandarin that often since most of my Malaysian friends speak English... I miss the swear words, esp those in Hokkien If you think Aussie slangs are hard to comprehend wait till you listen to the Kiwis... OMG. It's like comparing Brit accent and Irish accent. Kiwi accents are even rougher and deeper and most of them roll the tongue so much. If possible I'd like to pick up the British accent too where the tone of every sentence goes down instead of up like Aussie slang. Oh, luckily i speak Malay a lot since living together with 4 of my friends here in Geelong. Senang sikit cakap... This post has been edited by katunX: Apr 15 2008, 10:34 AM |

QUOTE(Godevil @ Apr 16 2008, 11:19 PM) sad. I fail in my IELTS... Overall 7.0 but writing 5.5 sorry to hear that. Is IELTS was that hard? I dunno since I never sit on one. I had only sit for MUET, even that I can't score high enough.Applied for RMIT and Melb. Uni. Both require minimum 6.0 for all papers.... It's ok, just apply first, just see what result gonna turn out later. What course did you appy for? |

QUOTE(alvinz @ May 6 2008, 05:26 PM) back from IDP office ...got a selection of Uni of South Aus, Tasmania, Curtin, SwinBurne and Edith Cowan for my Information Systems... what can I say.... like RyanTeh post ... wat do u guys feel about Aus ? nice for education? Foods, I can't say much since I'm a Muslim, but still you can easily get halal food or even asian foods. Education, way much better than Malaysia, I'd done my first degree in Malaysia and it was really not like studying in Australia. Different style, broaden perspective....I love it. Except, lots of reading for Architecture course. Facilities, really efficient, only once in while you will experience late or delay... Girls here, Should or should not i say ? heaven? Er, actually I'm referring to the girls in Australia...well, since everyone said shopping heaven for girls so I can't deny either...
Here, it always sale on every season, winter sale, summer sale, spring sale, autumn sale. So, it really a good place to go shopping though even if you can't find a shopping mall that is bigger than Mid Valley.... |

QUOTE(SeeD @ May 7 2008, 11:38 AM) So I high guess it's time for some PRs here to become big boss and start investing into some real shopping malls in Aussie. Probably in other side of Australia, not Melbourne. Since there are actually some planning guide for Melbourne towards 2030 but I'm not sure whether they're going to approve an enormous shopping mall near Melbourne CBD. Future congestion issue...QUOTE oh no..u make me wanna go lygon st !!. even though roti canai in Australia is not as delicious and oily as Malaysia but the curry in Lazzat sure is good. I've also heard that they got Nasi Lemak House also along Lygon St. But I haven't being there yet... but Es Teler 77 sure is a good Indonesian style restaurant....i really love Nasi Uduk...
