A standard size metal door frame is RM60-65 only.

BUT, to install it, 1st u need to bang the old one. And during such process, the plaster, the tiles next to the door frame sure gone.

Thus, replacing a door frame (complete with repairing the affected edges) would probably set you back about RM450.

And to replace 3 frames, would take around 2 days.

Added on January 31, 2008, 9:33 pmGetting a painter, indon, wage is around RM60 per day.

Equipment on them.

Exterior paint, only ICI & Nippon can live up to their claims of 5 years warranty. IF you follow strictly the procedure.

My apartment @ 12xx sqf was painted by indonesian last week. Total cost is RM2300 (including paint, 3 colours) for 4 room, 2x toilet and kitchen. Including patching some holes and other random thing (eg. I ask them to remove ceiling fan, remove motor and seal it, etc). No undercoat required. Hope that helps with your estimation.

The colour will work fine with proper lighting. The job takes 4 days for the entire house. I use JOTUN and im satisfied with it. Well waeguk, painters might get XXXX amount of money per mth but come to think about it, how often did they get the job? its not like you are going to paint your house every month.

Actually everyone can paint on their own especially indoors ... it's just time and effort.

Those painters charge quite a lot for just labour. Considering the $$, it's not surprising to see many houses that need a paint job.

For outdoors, it's worth more to get these fellas to do the job.

Since you mentioned the previous door frame was attacked by termites.., did you ask pest control to come in? or directly uses metal frames?

Yes I did it around 1994-1996 I guess. Can't remember the exact year.

Plus I'm using the metal frames.

The contractors are Indonesian and the really particular about the

workmanship and tidy up my house every time they have finished

working.

My porch had cracked as well.

Water popping + glue cement + sand

I don't think that you just can install by yourself

because it's very frills job. I'm suggesting you to

buy the raw materials such as cement 1 bag, the

metal door frame, the door and knob and sand and

just pay the labor cost to the workers.

If your previous door can be fixed to the new door frame,

therefore no need to change for a new one. In my situation,

the previous doors are a bit bigger for an inch which it is

produced on year 1992. So I need to

change all those 3 doors include the PVC wash room

door. doh.gif

Yeah,.... good question. Many a times outside, I see good prices, but when I inquired, it's without installation. Delivery,... I think it's okay if we pay,.... but installation will cost a bomb too for doors.
