some noob question here, i get my e8400 oc to 4.05ghz stable with 8 hours prime, small in place FFT, large fft and blend test... and memtest as well, but still getting random BSOD after playing heavy 3D applications games such as crysis... problem solve when using my 2gb Crucial 10th Anniversary RAM but i couldnt get the TEAM Elite 4gb kit stable even on stock settings, 3ghz, DDR2 800. what made the matter worst is the ram are passed all memtest... but keep crashing on certain level of crysis but not for 2gb of ram... main point is do i need to increase NB volt to get 4gb stable on my system, its impossible the ram passed all test but random restart playing heavy 3d Games... i am using ASUS Blitz Formula Mobo... and also what's the safe 24/7 voltage for NB?

owh..ok..thx flat..will try prime back later once i fix into my case back using OP750..later wanna try how highest 1M SPi i can do on this proc brows.gif or shud i oc higher to c the highest stable clock? hmm.gif erm  how bout highest vcore dat in safe range are to be use? notworthy.gif
*
i think vcore below 1.45v or 1.4v is safe for e8400 series.... dun dare to put too much voltage on it as its 45nm proc...

i think i settled my problem d, just to share out that nVidia 8800 Series + 4gb RAM + Creative X-FI is a no go on my Blitz Formula Motherboard, it will causes random BSOD when running heavy 3D applications, i pulled out my X-FI and running 4gb rock stable playing crysis... anyone faces these problem and owns a X-Fi card should try this... Wondering ATI cards also facing same problem or its nVidia and Creative business... ???

which version of x-fi u using ??
*
X-FI Xtrememusic w/o heatsink version... causes lotsa trouble, initial thought was unstable OC of my E8400 + Team Elite RAM, then after Prime Stable, i suspect its 8800GT, so planning to switch to ATI, thn yesterday take out the X-FI and use the ASUS ori add-on sound card its works rock stable even on 6gb ram...

i'm okay so far running this rock stable
at this settings

with
Asus EAH3870x2 ROG 850/1800
Creative Xi-Fi Fatality Pro Xtreame Gamer
4x1gb Team Xtreem PC2-8500 @ 1000mhz 4-4-4-8 2.272v tRD 8

no issue.

hmm maybe ure NB and Crosslink issue with the sound card..
however earlier bios had issues with the Xi-Fi. and PCIE 2.0 cards

hmm read somewhere most 8800gt has a PCIE downgrader thingy and its not true PCIe 2.0
while the HD3870 is..
so technically u should have less issue with 8800gt.

but ure problem hmm it was quite similar to the problem i had with the 680 mobo..
but that was heat issue from the 2 8800 ultra.
switching it to the last PCI slot solved it. it was the heat from the NB.

also one more thing about this mobo which might apply to ures since bios quite similar
the more CPU PLL voltage i pump in i can pass orthos longer..
example at 1.6v pass 12 hours, 1.7 pass 19 hours. 1.8v pass 24 hours which i stopped it.
*

the nVidia 8800GT giving me headaches, the Zotac 8800GT AMP gotto downclocked due to ram chip issue.(i was taking the 1st batch), Vista 32-Bit driver got some issue with 4gb of memory, IRQ conflict with Creative X-FI card, too bad dont have ATI PCI-E 2.0 card to tryouts on my motherboard, might switch back to the Red Camp if it resolve my situation...

[attachmentid=414731]

hmm can do up to 3.375ghz but will fail in 1 hour 9 minutes..

ur temp quite low, using wat cooling bro? mine seems get high readings of core temps, but small delta of idle and load temps, roughly 10c-12c on water cooling, apogee gt, mcp650, mcr220qp...

according to xtremesystems, those new 9-series quad core intel proc need more vtt and vNb to reach higher clock.... vcore should be lower as its 45nm... can go xtremesystems there to refer to... and also the GTL references...

bro, did you enable or disable the vdroop control in bios?

i do enable vdroop control for my mobo... but currently i not using quad cores... using e8400 with vdroop enable + GTL references tuning, i can get my e8400 to run at 1.3375 vcore in bios for 4ghz...

too bad highest end penryn series for normal users, i mean q9550 are only 8.5x multiplier also... very hard to OC nicely compare to Q6600 which have 9x multiplier...

FYI, to reduce the vdroop problem, you should disable the vdroop control option. smile.gif

ok, thanks bro.. now disable it d... running lower vcore now... biggrin.gif

most penryn got faulty thermal sensor? looks like serius problem to me. incorrect reading within range 10c from true reading is still acceptable, but to give -2c  shakehead.gif ?!?! oldskool method, touch the HS with ur hand and now u know how high d sky is tongue.gif
*
if u google around, i think some of us are quite lucky as our temp sensor still fuctioning, mayb reading +10c or -10c... some others not so lucky will get a dead temp sensor, which means the temp sensor stuck at certain celcius and the readings wont change at all...
