40Gb model has no backwards compatibility with PS2 games, because they removed the technology involved to reduce costs. Judging from recent news, it would appear that the 60 and 80Gb models are being phased out by Sony, so it'd be wise to get them before their gone from the market completely.It is speculated that backwards compatibility might be possible on the 40gb model via emulation, but that all depends on whether Sony is willing to release a firmware upgrade that contains an emulator.
