Ok, as most of you know, I have a Marshall TSL 602 Tube Amp with 2x EL34 tubes in the Power Amp stage, and 4x ECC83 in the Pre-Amp stage.
I know that the 6550 has a much fatter sound and might get a bit more crunch out of them, but can I swap them in for the EL34? Or are there any other alternatives? I'm basically trying to get a much fatter crunch to my TSL602.
Amp experts, please advice. Thanks man!!!

This page might help http://www.mclink.it/com/audiomatica/tubes/Although I don't think you'll get the most out of 6550 tubes due to the difference in output wattage. EL34 is 25W and 6550 is 40W. EDIT: but the input voltages are the same if i'm not mistaken so maybe you would get max performance out of it. Assuming of course your amp doesn't blow up or something Most people only mess around with 12A_7 tubes for preamps. This post has been edited by Bassix: Jan 23 2008, 09:36 PM

yeah.... I know most of them would swap the Pre-amps..... But I wanted a bigger sound then the EL34s.... Would probably get Nik or the guy in CK Music to do it up for me.
